At last it works in iPadOS :-) . This is a brilliant app, and today you will mostly find me using it.

thanks for the info. Now I'm going to update to ios 13

  • Will this app ever allow youtube to continue playing if you close the window in the AU host?

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.

That was there and got removed.
To not make YT and Apple suspicious, i suspect.

Ok thanks for the intel, this app isn’t really useful to me without that feature.

  • Is it possible to have the video continue playing in the background, with the tube au window closed in AUM, if I want to play with fx over the audio ? Thanks

Now, if you want to sample from YT, the App is greatly useful!
This is, for what it was written.

You want to just hear YT without a video playing?
Apple or YT seem to kill such Apps, most probably because of "Red Tube" ....

I need more flexibility in AUM/host, i cant multi tasking if i need to keep the YTAU window open.

  • I played with this on a iPad and 13.1 yesterday and was glad it worked again. But something strange happened, I stumbled across a video that just played and there where no sound. In this case it was an official video/song from the artist Tones and I and the song Dance Monkey. I’ve tried couple of times and even rebooted the iPad but same strange behavior. I hosted it in AUM.

hey, why don't you resize tube au window to smallest size, then move that window to somewhere bottom of the screen.

You should probably send the URL to the dev via their web site. He mentioned that he hasn't been receiving email notifications from the forum.

Yeah, I noticed this, too. I waited all that time and now the app is near-worthless. Such a shame, and a waste of money, in the end.

Please send us the URL of the video via the contact form on our website:

Also tell us which operating system you are using.

    Thanks

Edit: I just searched the video and found this:

But I couldn’t reproduce the bug when I played it on my phone. If that’s the correct video then please let us know what OS you have.

As @espiegel123 said, we do read this forum but not every message every day. The link above is the best way to contact us.

It just doesn’t work with the new iOS media player.

  • Is it working properly on ipad OS now?

I can't get it to work when I leave the focus on the window. Is this by design? It means it's unusable in the way I'd like to use it, if so. Hopefully it's an iOS bug or something :)

This happens because the iOS 13 media player does not allow the audio from videos to be played without showing the video. Whether that is a bug or it’s intentional; I don’t know.

Since YouTube charges money for the ability to play videos in the background, we do not have the right to complain to Apple about it.

The lead dev for this app noted that it would work as before if the host app would make the window invisible without actually closing it, but I don’t think we want them to do that because closing the window when you aren’t using the UI frees up memory and processor resources, and that’s something you want the host app to do in most other audio units except this one.

Thanks for getting back to me. Just tried it and it now seems to be working, recording into Enso. I’m not sure Enso is working quite as it should do right now but Tube AU does seem to be, which is great news. Thanks 🙂

  • I just move the open window for Tube AU wayyyy off to the bottom corner of the screen and it’s enough out of the way to not be a bother :)

    Still loving this ingenious app!!

Anyone else getting constant crashing and left right delay in the sound...?

  • edited January 2020

Yes, the app is crashing but it depends of the video you want to play. For example, this one is crashing all the time in Tube AU

    But this one play ok

Thanks. We will work on fixing this next week when we come back to work.

  • These reports keep holding me back from pulling the trigger on this one.

    @Blue_Mangoo
From what I gathered it's sort of a codec problem that will come back every now and then.
Is there a way to make Tube AU to look automatically for some open source third parties once it's out of date?

Not being negative just trying to be constructive because I'm not sure how viable this is from devs point of view and bad reviews will inevitably outweigh the good ones at some point.

From what I understand from the lead dev on the project, its not a codec issue. Problems occur whenever youtube changes things about the way they deliver videos. Sometimes its a global change to the whole site. Other times, they make changes that only affect videos uploaded after the change. When its the latter, we usually don’t find out about it until a few months after it happens.

I believe this app will always require updates to keep it working because it interfaces with the youtube network in a way the designers of the network don’t expect. It usually doesn’t take us more than four hours to fix it once a problem is reported. In this case we are taking longer than that because this week is a public holiday for Tet.

    @Blue_Mangoo
    Thanks for the info.
I would have thought these changes are passed down since many third party apps that intend to bring several streaming sites under one roof reliant on them. Guess it comes down to some legal issues at the end.

    OT:
Any word on multichannel AU (side chain) support? AUM is about to roll out an update with support on host side?

    Enjoy your holidays :)

  • Is it working now? From what I remember I bought it on first release and never worked, not even once. Finally i asked apple a refund but I feel like I would love to try again.

It should work for most of the videos, as soon as you run into one that's not playing correctly the best thing to do is to report it here. And a fix will follow.

Oh... That’s great news. We will have to update our compressor app!!

What should tube AU do with multichannel?
