How about this other plugin lets you set markers on the video and then trigger the location via midi? What if it had looping? ping pong? Etc? Airplay? Background fullscreen record?

The markers and looping and midi sound doable. Not sure about the airplay and background fullscreen

Too bad it couldn't loop the video.

Apps like TouchViZ and Vlc have video out (second monitor)..could an AU have that capability? Or that would need to be the host I expect.

Maybe this 2nd video app could be standalone... ...not like I gotta make it. ;)

  • Well I bought this instantly. @Blue_Mangoo thanks for always making the exact apps I need

It would be ideal as an AU for me for sketch workflow otherwise it's getting into Touchviz territory which it's unlikely to rival (even though that doesn't have clip position triggering yet)

    Great work here.

I honestly think I might use it more for stuff on archive.org and other sites with fewer copyright restrictions if possible.

You could always hide the feature for non-YT sites under an experimental setting with clear disclaimer that it won’t work with all sites.

  • Just think what madlib could do with this.

Hm... yeah. The challenge is how to market it so that people don't get their expectations up and then give us 0-star ratings when it doesn't do what they were hoping for. From a developer perspective, the ability to support 50% of all websites on the internet seems excellent. But users often buy an app like this with one specific use case in mind.

For example, if I bought the app specifically for the internet radio site that @Samu linked above, and then it turns out that the only site I am interested in using isn't supported, I would want a refund. And who wouldn't agree that a refund is fair in that situation? It's kind of difficult to envision a sales model where we are expecting a large portion of the users to be disappointed like that.

That's how our discussion went when we were developing this. We came to the conclusion that whatever functionality a plugin has, it needs to work more 99 percent of the time.

  • Where’s a link? I don’t see it in the App Store

Great job with this Blue but I don't see it lasting very long once youtube gets wind of it.

I just use my phone plugged into my audio interface to sample youtube.

Totally agree. I was thinking of something more along the lines of an Easter egg.

Market the app for YouTube as-is (clearly the biggest market) and bury the experimental feature to use other sites in the app settings.

That way you can pivot to that functionality if YouTube makes the current app inoperable (also a quick way to get 0 stars and refunds).

In any case, thanks for the effort here. You’re the type of developer I really like to support.

  • Bought and quite happy. I didn't need this given "the feature" in BT works for me but this is so immediate and easy that I can do some sampling while waiting for the wife to finish her shopping or whatnot. Worth a tenspot right there.

    What is BT? I’m curious.

  • Bought and made a wave in AUM. $10 for the few of us that want to do this seems fair.
Anyone else can just plug two devices together and play one and record on the other but for side-stepping D to A and A to D and using one device it’s so great.

You can go D to D (LOL) if you already have an interface with an optical input for $20 extra in a Behringer UCA202.

I don't have one with optical. I have older gear with optical and SPDIF but not USB Audio. I kind of covet the iConnectAudio4 but probably won't pay the toll to get it.

  • Is there any way you could make it compatible with 12.1.2?? Pleeease

I guess it’s ”Beat Time!” app

On second thought: We had better not do that. It would probably work, but we don't have any iPad or iPhone running 12.1.2 that we could use for testing, so if we open it top to that, we won't know if it works or not, and might not be able to fix it if it doesn't. Sorry.

Well thanks for considering. Reason I'm not ready to update yet is because of my jailbreak. I like to customize my devices. But I love all your other apps. Just got velocity KB and really dig it

Edit: I would be willing to test. I know my way around ios a bit and could give you logs perhaps. Either way it looks like a swell plug in

  • What a curious country you coding characters inhabit ...making something and then letting the market work out what on earth it could be good for ... it's probably how the wheel started.

The only thing that leaps to my (very analog) mind is watching Doug's videos from the Sound Test Room while exploring the app in question.

Indeed. All of the apps we have built until now have originated from my personal idea of what the market should want. But this is the first app where the idea and design came from another member of our team, who is a coder, as you correctly surmised. So far we are very pleased with the result. (Technically I was also trained as a coder but I spend most of my time solving equations or drawing graphics, not coding.)

  • So bought it. But anytime I try and open a video that is longer then 2-3 hours it crashes AUM. I was looking at relaxing sound videos like rain and thunderstorm. Anything over about 2 hours it kills AUM? Any thoughts?

    @Eye0sStudios “thunderstorm” relaxing? :)
