Anyone else on iPad OS public beta?

I know, I must be mad for having updated my main working iPad to a beta OS, but all my main apps work so far. Anyone else using the beta?

  • Yeah, the mail has been flaky. Thats the only issue i have.

  • I think this guy is...

  • Also audioshare receives weird empty files.

Yeah, same here: it works but takes a lot to display the content of the mailboxes.

  • I’d say back up any important files to physical media. Data loss on iOS 13/iPadOS/,Catalina is a real phenomenon right now. Especially with iCloud

Logic Pro zeroed out a whole folder of my projects, which were synced via iCloud.

fortunately they were backed up to physical media...but the first thing I did with iPadOS was copy all Media projects to a USB drive (which works great by the way)

  • Any guesses on a release date? I'm very excited for mouse support, but too scared to blaze there betaOS path...

Thank you! Will do it ASAP.

  • Didn’t test mouse yet, don’t care about it a lot. Most exciting thing for me is external storage support, and off topic, the ability of locking Safari in Desktop sites mode.

From what I saw on YT, the "mouse support" is far from what I expected and hoped for.
It did not even show a mouse pointer in the video I saw, just some circular blur.
And no left kick, right klick to select, long press.

I would love to hear different things about this.

    Wrong!
Sure, the mousepointer isn’t an arrow, it’s a semitransparent circle (you can choose 10 different sizes), AND, you have both left and rightclick support...
If you longclick with the mouses left button it’s like an longtap with fingers...
The mouse support is awesome and can change a lot for many PC-guys to switch to iOS easier...

...AND, you CAN select text easy with the mouse in ex Pages or MS Word for iPad!

As I can see it, pedantic users can totally avoid to touching the surface and still can manage and control the iPad 100% with the mouse!

  • Great news on mouse support... This 2018 ipad pro 12.9 is having more and more touch issues everyday.

Is multiple user accounts available yet? I could use one ipad for both business and personal....

  • I jump kinda late here,i installed beta 4 yeaterday,first impression is catastrophic.I'm on an Air2.

Cubasis hangs. And hangs so badly that is quite unusable. On a 23 frozen audio track only project, with just some AU effects like Pumphouse and EOS(which was running with close to zero CPU usage on ios12),i get artifacts, totally glitchy UI and overall i really can't use the app anymore. Also,Patterning 2 refuses to open in any case. Not even as a standalone, nothing.

Hexagliphics Noise generator is lagging bad as well.I was kinda able to record some audio from it but i saw the waveform inside Cubasis about 10 sec later.I don't know if its the iPad,i definitely know that I'm reverting to ios12 as soon as i can.I was expecting some glitches but nothing like this.

  • Not yet but I do hope Apple adds per app Callkit Permission options to the iOS/iPadOS Settings...

Facebook/Messenger doesn't respect privacy and when people do messenger calls they alert on all devices at the same time even when their shitty apps are not even installed on the device. It's 'Callkit' transfer the calls...
(Facebook could if they cared about their users add an option to disable CallKit but nooo, they won't do that and blame Apple).

  • tried the beta 4 today on an iPad Pro 3rd gen and USB C hub, but unfortunately all the USB ports stopped being recognised after the beta install. I don't have another USB C hub at hand, so I had to restore from the backup I made prior to the beta 4 installation. But after the restore process the iPad is still on iPadOS 13, which is something I don't understand.

Did you remove your profile? Looks like you need to put it in Recovery mode too.

yes one has to remove the profile first before going back to the regular iOS.

There are many articles telling us that iPadOS can read from USB drives and SD cards. But how exactly does it work? What adapter or hub has to be used? Does it even work at all in the latest beta?

Edit: I decided to continue testing, and to my surprise the USB headphone is working on the USB hub. Last night it didn’t connect as audio output and microphone input. This is great. However the SD cards and USB drives still are not recognised.

Edit2: Sensel Morph controller also recognised. This is good. USB seems to work alright. HDMI out is working too.

Edit3: success. USB drive recognised. Windows users must format the drive to exFAT.
