iphone app for converting loops to AppleLoops
in one of my previous posts @Samu suggested using BM3 to convert regular drum loops to AppleLoops
Unfortunately BM3 only runs on iPad and I am working on an iPhone
Does anyone know of any apps that will run on iPhone that are capable of performing the AppleLoops conversion?
Thanks so much!!

Who knows, maybe some day GarageBand will get those features built-in...
Not sure what you mean - can’t the GarageBand loop loader access Files? In fact I’m sure it does. So if the drum loop is an audio file (or even a midi file) you could save it in Audioshare or your app of choice that connects to files (DropBox, Drive, Box, GoodReader etc.). And then you could load it as an Apple loop? Am I missing something?
Regular audio can be imported, but if one has the desire to time-stretch or pitch-adjust audio in GarageBand they have to be converted to AppleLoops...
Forgive me, you are looking for a file format conversion.
BeatMaker 2 also does this. I think it runs on phones.
Double check that I am correct before buying
BeatMaker 2 is Compatible with iPhone, and arguably the best current end to end solution
How do you convert to apple loops with BM3?
The Audio Dabbler has a video about it. It has to do with certain options chosen when exporting from the sampler/slicer. Slice markers and tempo metadata are exported as aif . BeatMaker will treat the Files as sliced loops, too.
Awesome thanks. I remember seeing the option somewhere.
Well damn that's cool. For anyone that doesn't like watching videos:
Load file into BM3 sampler, auto detect transients then save as apple loop. Need to detect the transients otherwise it won't time stretch properly.
Unfortunately, BM2 doesn’t appear to save the information needed the file to act as an Apple loop like BM3 does.
[edit] wait maybe I’m just doing it wrong...
[edit 2] yuck. Yeh, I think it can do it but the damn workflow is so convoluted I don’t feel like carrying it through to verify fully. I forgot how unintuitive BM2’s workflow is.
AudioShare can convert files to AIFF, would that work?
No, unfortunately that doesn’t store any slice, loop, or tempo information, which is what’s needed for Apple loop functionality.
I think this video shows the BeatMaker workflow:
Perfect. Thanks @espiegel123.
Let me know if it works. I have been putting of getting either BM2 or BM3 until I am ready to use this capability -- which is pretty much the only reason I would be using them.
Guess AudioShare should be the likely candidate to make AppleLoops now.. Blocs Wave?
