  • Good value. But also says company has moved App Store account, and future versions will be sold on the new account and require a separate purchase.

Maybe mean this app is not going to be updated again and no IAP’s?

  • And IAA will fade...

Where did you got the new account and information? This would be pretty sad to purchase again - no discount needed then ;)
    But I am intrigued too...

Maybe the dev will drop a line to this discount/sale on drum session

Says on App Store page. From link above.

  • Little OT - do You know any vst plugin which contains so many midi patterns?

the midi patterns aren't actually contained (as they are separate files) but EZ drummer easily provides more than 100000 midi grooves...

Interesting. On my (German) Page it just says, what white quoted above. No word about another account. Thanks for the headsup though

    Here is screen grab.

  • Hmmm. Would like to hear from Blue Mangoo about this account business. Sounds a bit dodgy to those of us who are existing customers, but I'm sure there's an easy answer etc.

  • It looks as if @Blue_Mangoo's other apps are now under the banner of Mani Consulting Limited Company, but this one has got left behind under the old dev name.

  • Thanks man! Nothing like this on my site

hmmm so better no purchase in this discount/sale — bummer

  • So the other apps from this dev are listed under the new account.
Glad to see that they can still be installed for free on my iPod Touch.

I am not sure why the dev wrote that in the DS description, though.
It seems it wouldn’t be affected, since the other apps I purchased seemingly work and restore fine.

Maybe DS is a unique case, but why?

  • Would snap this up but need clarification on future updates.. sounds a bit iffy right now. 🤔

  • Those of you on the fence might want to consider the midi grooves alone. You can easily string the existing grooves together in different combinations and then easily export the midi. You can also edit as many different variations of each groove as you want and then easily export those variations. The app is a bargain just for easy midi export alone. I'm not worried about the future of Drum Session. The files that I export from it this summer will be worth way more to me than what the app cost.

  • Just sent a message to one of the guys from Blue Mangoo
Hi. We are still the same group of developers. We registered a new seller account in order to comply with regulations in our area. Our previous account was a personal account. Now we have the company registered as a legal entity.

Drum session is stuck on the old account because the App Store does not allow apps that use iCloud to transfer between seller accounts.

So we decided this is a good time to do a new version of drum session. The old version will continue to be available on the old account and the new version will be on the new account. We will reduce the price to make it gentler on the existing customers who want to upgrade to the new version.

So new version can upgrade over old version, when two are different apps? Or will both apps be on iPad, one not updating other bought as separate purchase and not compatible with old one?

  • I am still puzzled. Will the deal for the new one be like the 9.99 dollar sale too?
In the end it’s a stupid Apple thing again because for whatever reason they don’t allowed the moving to the new account. Oh my 🙈

If that's actually going to be the case, why not wait for the newest version of the App, then buy it at the same price?
That assumes the new version will sell for $9.99 also.

    @Blue_Mangoo. Your thoughts?

We moved all our apps to a new seller account a few days ago. When we did that, we found out that you can't transfer an app to another account if it has ever used iCloud (even in a previous version). We are going to just leave Drum Session on the old account and keep updating it there for now. It could be more than a year before we get around to writing version 3 and uploading it to the new account. But we posted the notice to warn customers in advance so they won't be surprised when a new version comes out on the other account and they don't get a free upgrade.

I think the original price of $20 is too much to pay for an upgrade, so we are planning to sell the next version at $10 instead. We also cut the price of the old version by 50% because we don't want to charge the full price for an app that we are planning to stop updating after another year.

When I first found out that App Store policy will prevent us from transferring this app, I was disappointed. But now that I'm looking at this situation more carefully, I hope it will end up enabling us to update things that otherwise could not have been updated. We were stuck in a hard situation with that app because we really wanted to update it to support Audio Unit, but with the buy-once, free-update-forever model on the App Store, we figured we wouldn't be able to recover the cost of development for the upgrade. With this transfer situation, the AU3 update is a financially viable option, and we we will be able to afford to reduce the price of the app at the same time, assuming that many of the previous version customers decide to buy the new version.

  • Okay, thanks Blue_Mangoo for making clear. :)

  • For anyone on the fence, I consider it an essential on my workflow.
Love it and use it a lot, both with exported midi and internal sounds

  • Same here! I really enjoy this app! And I love that I can have Xequence 2 send it midi and the amount of Drum kits available is amazing! Also even the exported midi tracks from Lumbeats drum apps recorded into X2 work perfectly when the midi is sent to Drum Session!

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • Do folks have any favorite tips or sneaky (in a good way) features to share?

  • Got off fence. Bought app. If get 2 yrs use (at least) then still bargain price for such good sounds. If future version has random and AU3, will buy that also.

  • Is there a chance you could look into Drum Sessions midi in and out ports? They seem to be broken and send out midi even if its set off. I’m really looking forward to seeing your new app but if this is abandoned ware then i might have second thoughts about supporting it. I hope you can understand. This app is seriously awesome but with the broken midi ports it’s harder to use in my setups.

    Thanks for your consideration ❤️❤️❤️😌🙏☝️

  • If it had dry drumsounds I would use it

  • The Stems kit is as dry as possible and if you use Beatformer in legato preset, sounds even more tight. I like it!😌

You should probably explain this in the App Store description too.
People could misinterpret things easily, otherwise.

I also read this one sentence of explanation and was initially disappointed, until I read your explanation here.

Whoa, I agree with tja! That explanation is totally reasonable, and I'm all for devs getting fresh revenue without jumping on the subscription bandwagon. But the brief warning in the App Store does come across as sketchy. Having the full details that it's yet another quirk of doing business with Apple makes it understandable.
