  • With lightning? Best get a powered USB hub and a power bank with two outlets. One to power the iPad through the CCK and the other to power the USB hub.

    Question:

If I want the Mikrofreak to be portable with a Powerbank using the USB port, how do I connect the iPad?

    Thanks
    (I don’t own the Freak yet…)

The easiest way is to use Bluetooth MIDI dongles on the Microfreak.
The Quicco mi.1 are nice and small, but other 5pin BT MIDI dingles work too.
    No cables required.

Note that the keyboard might not work as well as when connected to mains when powered from a USB powerbank.

Edit: From a comment on Synthtopia:

Arturia did not intend for this machine to be powered by USB. They provide the correct grounded plug for AC current only. The USB port is for connecting to a DAW, not a powerbank. They do not support the use of adapters to connect to powerbanks. Any damage to the instrument due to powering it incorrectly can and most likely will void the warranty.

That said, I've powered mine over USB without issues - the keys sometimes don't react as perfectly as when connected to mains but it works well enough here.

Current consumption is about 300 mA so a 5000mAh powerbank should last a day.

  • Thank You, - both solutions seems fine.
Have been looking at BT midi dongles for my other synths too.
