Hey you Impaktor enthusiasts, have any of you tried to run a particular channel input into Impaktor from an audio interface? I'm trying to have one channel from the interface sending mic input to Loopy via Audiobus while the other channel sends (contact) mic input to Impaktor>Loopy via Audiobus.
It looks like it's not possible to select the channel input from within Impaktor. I also couldn't get Impaktor to load in the output slot of Audiobus. Any ideas on how to make this work?
Sorry to bump - but this is one of my favourite threads on this forum.
I've just 'rediscovered' Impactor and am very excited about buying a contact mic and taping it to the sole of my running shoe or something .
I walked to work this morning with a simple kick drum loop going on one channel and the 'Meta Cinema' preset just playing live due to my iPhone banging around in my pocket - totally cool and generative. Shame I didn't hit record.
Lots to explore. I'm also trying to figure out the best and quickest way of creating a set of clean, varying hits from an instument, spread over <10 secs, so I can import efficiently as a 'kit' into Abu Dhabi in Gadget (for more controlled noodling).
Remember those RockBand drumsets for Wii or X-Box? I see those in thrift stores a lot now for almost nothing. These would make great triggers for this function. My next experiment is to put a lapel mic inside of a plastic 5 gallon water bottle and see (or hear) what type of wackyness ensues. Oh and Paradiddle is totally right about the Korg Wavedrums. One of the most organic of the electronic drums available.
I am daydreaming of 4 iPhones / iPads /ipods all running impactor with a different patch and all hooked into household objects with contact mics. With outputs into one PA.
Would be pretty crazy.
I'll start with one though. Today I bought that cheap contact mic on eBay that @superdom linked to further up the thread.
Loving this app so much... The sound is so rough and organic
Quick jam from today (terrible clipping I fear but thought I'd throw it up anyway). Will attempt to add to your soundcloud group @Jakob:
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 ah the power of suggestion. It sounded like the Tube. Or something about it did. Or I may just have residual memory dust from the thousands of hours I communted without benefit of digital distraction. Such years all wasted for the want of Impaktor et. al.
Nice track man. Loved the use of the delay on claps etc.
Thanks guys.
I love the way impaktor insists on you playing the hits in live (something I naturally try to resist due to lack of confidence).
I played in each track loop at various coffee breaks I had today and then the recording this evening was just me bringing in and out various tracks with the mute and solo and messing with the FX sends in one take. Some live playing over the top would have probably been good though.
What a truly amazing app.
The pic of the tube was taken on my way to work on friday. There's something very special about the London Underground.

Never thought anything of it until I moved to Manhattan in 1990 and rode The Subway and was feeling all cool about it until I realized it was pretty shit. Give me Hammersmith Broadway any day of the week...
I had kind of a similar experience recently. Went to Manhattan for the first time last year expecting (for some reason) for everything to be newer and shinier and better than London - given New York is such an amazing world city.
It's a great city with an amazing, unique buzz - but it could do with some investment in it's roads and public transport and that kind of thing. Getting a yellow cab was quite a crazy, bumpy experience - and the Subway could do with a bit of a revamp IMO.
@Supadom - I love your performances further up the thread by the way - they inspired me a lot. And also @Jakob's...

There's a dude on YouTube who has done just that. Tried to find him for you but failed.
He had to be going off forever to the special house. Madness I tell you.
Cool. If I ever do it I'll be sure to YouTube it then.
