AUFX Space - still no AUv3 version?
So it is still only an IAA app (even though the dev suggested an auv3 version was coming in 2018) and it does not seem to work if you do not allow microphone access? What's with that? Why should I have to allow microphone access for a reverb app to work???
And the developer does not appear to have authorised refunds via Apple either. Tried to get a refund and it does not qualify, which is Apple-speak for it hasn't been authorised for refunds.
Comments
I think the refund has to be within a certain time frame.
Yeah 90 days - this was like an hour ago!
Usually 14 days no questions ask but yeah an hour is an issue.
Ahhh yeah sorry that's right 14 days....
The app doesn’t say it has auv3 support. The App Store description doesn’t promise auv3.
Every app that treats audio asks for authorisation to use the microphone.
In the case of an auv3; this permission is implicit via the host. If an auv3 app has a stand alone mode then the stand alone app will ask for authorisation. If you deny access to the mic you are basically denying it access to any audio.
If you have an audio interface, you can switch between multiple sources including the mic. Authorising the mic is the same as authorising all audio inputs.
Nope didn't say it did klownshed...not sure where I did actually say it either had it or the store description said it, What I DID say was the developer suggested in 2018 an auv3 version was coming.....
As for microphone access, the iFX app I also bought does not need it and it works....
Perhaps not all apps ask for it, but it is pretty standard for audio apps. Is asking for mic permission, your reason for wanting a refund?
Just to clear things up: every app that functions as an IAA sound processing app will ask for permission to access the microphone. That is not an option to choose “No” unless you don’t want to actually use the app to process sound... I think it has something to do with the way iOS handles real-time audio processing. (Which is obviously required for fx apps)
AUv3 effects do not need to ask for this permission because the permission is handled by the audio host from what I can tell.
Anyway, all that to say if you want a refund on any app that asks for mic access, well you would have to avoid every IAA app. And you wouldn’t be able to install your AUv3 host apps either... I think they do have to ask for mic access.
Which is not promising that there will be an AU version.
A lot has changed in the last 6 months. Perhaps the developer has seen the saturation of AU FX products in the App Store and decided it was not worth the time and effort to port the app to AU?
He’s just a very busy guy. Those aren’t his only irons in the fire.
It could still happen.
The answer is probably somewhere in between.
I really hope Jonatan decides to update his apps for AU functionality. I’ve always considered his AUFX apps to be the cream of the crop, so easy to get great results using his design. I’ve got Fabfilter, Toneboosters, 4Pockets and just about anything else that’s available, but AUFX is special goodness.
i wouldn't mind if he would release the AU versions as new apps like Laurent did with Steppolyarp.I would buy them in a heartbeat again
What would he name them? AUFX AU Suite?
“AUFX, oh”..😀
AUFX PRO
haha, yeah I was asking for the refund mostly because (and i could be doing it wrong here) I could only get one instance happening. Not really because of the microphone thing. The other one I bought (iFX - midiculous) was an auv3 so worked fine. Nah I'm happy to stick with it now that Jonatan pretty muhc explained the same stuff as above
. Oh and he did say to me that perhaps by the end of this year he MAY finally be able to get the AUV3 version out
AUFX fuax..

That’s a limitation of all iAA apps. You can only have one instance.
Only auv3 allows multiple instances as you’ve probably already surmised.
I think the apps he's put out could arguably be considered, along with Audiobus, the most important and widely used on iOS. I think he can be excused if he hasn't gotten to everything yet.
Agreed. But he set the bar and now we want to jump over it please
AUFX - the Really AU Edition.
AUM - Mix Bus - AUFX Space or Dub. Still using it ! My fav delay right now ( waiting to Eventide
)
