I’m so grateful for this thread, thank you! I love drum apps and almost bought pulse even though I don’t think I really need it. I was kind of looking to see if it did anything I couldn’t do with DigiStix and BeatHawk and couldn’t see an excuse to buy it. Here’s a workflow idea for DigiStix if you want to build a drum room in AUM.
I was reading this thread thinking "bloody hell! I am going to buy this too!" Went to buy it and saw I already have it.
For me, this is the benefit of not refunding apps I don't like at first. Either I change, they do or both.
I just wrote to Paul from 4Pockets in YouTube and he said he’d look into adding pattern changes via midi. No time estimates. Really hope he does!. That man is hard working and very, very talented. Fingers crossed.
Sort of related... due to the missing pattern switching, in a project where I was doing “dawless song in AUM “ I had to migrate my DigiStix drum kit to Drambo, which does have pattern change. I found DigiStix to sound “better”... This is bullshit, right?. I mean, they’re just playing a sample, one shouldn’t better than the other... Well I totally felt like DigiStix had more punch and warmth with the exact same samples. I kept saying to myself “doesn’t make sense, it’s not logical, get over it” but at the same time I kept thinking “i liked it better before”. Biased bullshit right?.
Record both and make a blind test
You can make Drambo to be anything. If you want further processing of your samples (punch, warmth, clarity, whatever) then you just add it after the sampler on the same track or on the master channel.
Funny enough, I'm in touch with @MrBlaschke about making Drambo a better Drum app.
It will take a while though.
EG pulse is on sale today
Hi, yes I know Drambo is a beast. I added some processing, compression, eq, etc, and it improved but I’m wonderin if the “starting” point is somehow enhanced in DigiStix, if it has some processing applied to make it sound “richer”...
That could be the case indeed, I would have to hear the same samples (like separate kick, snare, clap and ride cymbal played and recorded from both apps) for comparison...
Think it has some sort of tube/drive setting on main page. Maybe that was engaged?
Can’t recall, if it was, it’s awesome.
Yes!. Pattern change via midi coming to DigiStix!.

Paul is a machine, a NuRack with legs.
Update available for DigiStix midi pattern change.
Official support email is: support @ 4pockets.com. But there's no one official way. You just have to keep trying different avenues until he comes up for air. I get the impression he must be heads-down intensely coding most of the time.
I like them both but my personal opinion is that Digistix is a bit cumbersome to use by comparison. Much prefer the interface in terms of use ability. Digistix has a stronger sample library but I guess you can import what you like with both. I'd appreciate someone releasing a product with some decent rock kits.
YouTube comments. As in comments in his videos. I’ve reached him that way.
Out of interest what in AUM do people use to send CC to things like Digistix? Ta
LK and StepBud are two possibilities.
For what purpose? Are you wanting to sequence cc’s or send out CCs as real-time controllers (from knobs or buttons or sliders)? I use Mozaic for knobs, sliders and pads that send CCs. For sequencing the apps wim mentioned are good. LK also has real-time sliders and knobs.
I wanted to be able in AUM to send CCs to PlayBeat to change the preset at specific points in a song, so no human interaction. I'm a little crazy as kinda trying to use AUM like a DAW - lol!
But got round my problem by sampling into Digistix and recreating the patterns there. PlayBeat is great for that inital idea but for me it doesn't work (and crashes) in my workflow too well. Great app just isn't suited particularly well to how I work.
General DigiStix question - is it possible to see the original file name of samples in an old project? I was playing guesswork on some samples from last year moving from DigiStix/CB2/iPad Mini 2 to EG Pulse/CB3/iPad 8...
