It does NOT mean a thing! iOS music apps mostly incapable of utilizing Apple processors.
I learned it by buying iPad Pro 2018. Let my loss be your gain.
Those benchmarks almost never applicable to music apps. Do not buy “pro” models.

those benchmarks are both single core and multicore and they show pretty accurately relativw performance sifferences between cpu generations ...

It is pute fact, if you like it or don't like it it will not change it...

Agree, but it does NOT always translates directly into apps’ performance.
Wish we’ve got more of your Moog Model 15 “test” results.

With all this power that iOS will be having, and the increase in traffic on this forum, it can only mean one thing, Developers will get paid and paid handsomely (they claim to not) in the near future.. Just hope they don’t get fat and lazy like those desktop developers (they don’t even have probability on their DAWs yet... been begging for 10 years, thank you very much).
Anyway, please don’t forget us simple folk... 😇

Edit... $500.00 for a synth.... yeah right..

Unfortunately, there’s nothing even close to an average desktop DAW for iOS.
Cubasis is a joke compared to Cubase. And basically the same goes for any of them.

Was reading in the midiRack thread where a user said he gets better performance of that app on iOS that his Mac..
I am not giving up my Sonar on Desktop for mixing.. but, In think a lot will happen in iOS-land by now and Xmas..

Do you mean miRack? It’s nothing like a DAW, it’s a Eurorack modular synth emulation.
Very promising app, I’d even say one of the best for iOS, but still missing many modules VCV rack has (of which it was branched of) .

That’s it.. Don’t know if it’s for me.. well right now.. seems too complicated..

But DAWless seem to be the way forward..

DAWless isn’t a way for me, but if it’s your choice you should definitely buy miRack.
Just watch VCV rack tutorials for a day and it’ll go very quickly from there.
It’s very logical and “homogeneous” in a way, that’s why it’s called modular.
The potential is unlimited , it costs pennies, and you can always migrate to VCV rack on desktop, which is free and offer more modules, though iOS touch interface is better.

Too bad most people will be wasting that power on texting about their dogs. Also to s how how high of a status they think they have but do not because they are now broke after buying that phone.

I am not talkin about the fine folks in this forum 😃

I suppose that many games, which are likely the most popular app category on the App Store, will make full use of all that power.

True but most people I know who own recent iPhone only text and do Facebook. The ones who really push their phones have android phones.

  • Bumping to say.

I just picked up the 2020 SE yesterday and this thing smokes my 2016 9.7" ipad pro. I never dreamed of running multiple Model 15 instances with a buffer setting of 64 but here we are. 🔥🔥🔥

What is the more powerfull Apple unit? Ipad Pro 2020 or fastest iPhone?

Here you have some info about the apple devices cpu power. Single core benchmark is much more important being that musical apps cant/dont do multi core. Altough that maybe will change in IOS 14 (that would be very good to make the most of the power of our devices)

While the iPhone 11 is great and all that, I've got some real concerns going on with the iPhone Xr that I just purchased as an upgrade from my iPhone 7 Plus. Believe it or not, it actually seems 'SLOWER' than my iPhone 7 Plus. The Xr supposedly has a newer and faster chip, so what gives? Why am I experiencing this? And, apparently I'm not alone in this. Others have mentioned this issue in this very forum. Sorry for the derail, but it seems an appropriate place considering everyone here is discussing chips and speed.

  • How long have you given your phone to settle down after the restore? It takes a while.

  • Side note: It makes me sad that my iPhone 11 max obliterates (in a good way) my iPad 5th gen. I want it to be the other way around, you know. Ill just have to get a gameboy magnifier for AUM work.

  • Having an 11 has been a god send for me since my only iPads are an air 1 and a mini 2. I’ve yet to run across anything that hinders the cpu on here for me where my iPad will turn into a crackling mess very quickly

I feel a bit like that too considering my iPhone 8 crushes my iPad Air 2 but the iPhone screen size is just too small to be usable...

I doubt Apple will release and iPad with A14 chip at the same time they launch the new iPhone's so there will always be a 'gap' where the phone is faster when it really should be the other way around...

About 2 weeks. Isn't that enough for all of the necessary caching and such to take place?

  • I really love NS2 on my iPhone Pro. Everything is so well laid out I can get around efficiently. I’m almost done with an all NS2 song done completely on iphone. The only reason I’ll pull it onto my iPad is for Mastering in NS2 with fabfilter plugins on the Master channel.

  • ipad pro 2020 here, not that big jump in my AUM sessions tbh... (from my gen6 ipad vanilla) mostly because ive learned to be conservative and using the same busses and flow from prev gen. ok i can run the same projects at 128 instead f 1024 but yeah..
one thing tho... 120hz framerate and 8 core gpu is buttersmooth on GUi (moving, scrolling etc)
worth the coins? not really. and whats with the lidar camera..i gaffa taped it over first day
