It would be so Good if they could offer full midi mapping for all controls.
MIDI In is part of the $6 upgrade. No help key or manual to RTFM first, not that I could find in the App.
I thought about it, but even with just RD 4 running (on my Air), there is noticeable latency between tapping a synth key and hearing the result, and I even got some stuck notes playing by touch (!:(. I think I have enough groove boxes already. Maybe with latency fix and MIDI learn I'd rethink.
NanoStudio/iPhone + SynthStation25 also has good integration:
NLogPro is also nice with the SS25 when using its 30 pin connector. The instrument select buttons become record/play controls for the loop recorder. iPhone 5 hooks in nicely with the Apple 30 - Lightning adapter.
Perhaps this has been covered before and if so a link to the thread would be greatly appreciated.
I was looking for a small battery powered synth for mobility reasons a couple of years ago and found that the SS25 + an iPod Touch was worth checking out. I bought them and that is what started my iOS journey. Such a great way to spend time while on the go.
However, I totaled my truck late last year and in the process of end over ended 4 times my iPod Touch was lost (luckily I survived with only 5 sutures to the forehead but that is another story).
My question is if there is a 30 pin extender or adapter/cable that will let me plug my iPad 3 into the SS25? I hate not being able to use the keyboard but didn't want to purchase a dock extender if it was not compatible.
Thanks for any assistance that you may provide.
CableJive DockXTender extender cable works. Pricy at $26 but the cheaper ones only do charging. The SS25 will not charge the iPad, and you have to power the SS25 separately.
Note also: the Akai SS app is quite nice in iOS 6 but does not run on an iPad under iOS 7.
Thanks for the info, @dwarman.
