  • How do I splitscreen on iPad with this rather than slide over?

So letā€™s say I have GTL open, can I set up each track in advance to have an AU or iaa already set up and ready to record? Or do you set it to one at a time?

It host AUfx and you can do it for slot or input channel. I think itā€™s possible set everything before hit record or load a sample...

Also are you hosting the AU / iaa directly inside GTL or are you feeding it thru AB ?

Directly. In fact you can IAA with AUM without AB. You need to set it in GTL and then open AUM rewire-esque way...

And is it Limited to 4 tracks per group?

Plus 4 more in the Main.

    Talked me into here man!!!
    Thanks for the insight!

ReCheck my comment I was editing since no multitrack IAA like you seem expecting... check carefully!

Ya thatā€™s ok tho I see just one synth can be hooked into it at a time, I can live with that

Is there a way to shorten a loop , like turn this into 4 bars?

  • edited October 2019

Is the app supposed to timestretch loops when shifting tempo after a project has already been started, or only when first importing loops to a project?

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • @reasOne not as imported directly but yes with AudioShare as editor back and forth. One of the features in the todo/wishlist is advanced editor but hard to know if before/later AUv3...
As recordings you can half/double in the main controls over the top of course.

@Michael_R_Grant check preferences and type of algo you have selected.

  • Man this thing is great! You do have to use AUM or AB to load up an AU synth from my findings but It does support AUFX
Too much fun, and really has some great features like layering loops, thatā€™sa big plus with only 4/5 tracks

  • Unless ... I have missed it , I have found itā€™s not easy to QUICKLY transfer projects from iPhone to IPAD and vice versa. Would love airdrop support

Only works with apps supporting split screen - like Audiobus. Open AB, open GTL, go back to AB, pull up the dock while in AB but donā€™t switch away (if that makes sense) and pull up GTL. I think youā€™ll see split rather than slide over. Would love AUM to support it.

Just noticed you can float GTL over AUM and use the IAA output for easy access to recording loops, not quite split view but still works really well.

Yeah slide over works lovely, I like the way that gtl scales itself when in slide over

Yes I can see myself using this setup a lot now, multiple outputs from GTL back to AUM would top it all off.

    Hi @Michael_R_Grant,

Both, if you import a loop it will be stretched to fit the tempo. You can choose between pitch shift or time stretch processing. The file will be copied into the session and processed offline so it doesn't eat into your CPU for playback.

If you change the tempo after importing any processing is done in real time. You can also select between pitch shift and time stretch although time stretch is rather hungry.

Yesterday I did the (almost) opposite and had ChordPolyPad floated or split screened next to GTL, which also worked nicely.

    Me too :)

It is possible, not very quick though. The best way at the minute is to export your session to iCloud via the files app.

    1. Go the the session manager.
    2. Slide left on a session.
    3. Tap export.
    4. Select export as 'Session File'.
    5. Save to iCloud.
    6. Wait awhile for it to upload.
    7. Open GTL on your second device.
    8. Go to session manager.
    9. Tap 'Import' and locate the session file.
    10. Tap on the imported session and then tap 'Load'.

Airdrop support is on the todo list.

You can also use iTunes file sharing if your sessions are big.
    1. Connect your device.
    2. Open iTunes and go to iTunes file sharing.
    3. Drag the Sessions folder over to your desktop (may take awhile).
    4. Connect your second device and open iTunes file sharing.
    5. Either drag the whole sessions folder over to the new device. This will overwrite all your previous sessions.
    6. Or Drag the individual session into the GTL documents folder. With this option you will have to manually import each session. Either tap on the session in the Files app or import as of step 7 above.

Thanks - I missed the option to time stretch in real time. Found it now!

Yes I did see above options ... it just so happens I donā€™t have extra storage in cloud .. hence I asked if there was a quick option ..., I used iTunes file sharing on computer .. single file is not an issue , since you can quickly share with AudioShare

    Thatā€™s bad ass !!

@jmarshallgtl will GTL ever have more than one input so you could potentially record a few out outs of AUM at one time into gtl

Walk away from the edge. What youā€™re trying to do is madness. Thatā€™s multi track recording man. Not loop recording. šŸ¤Ŗ letā€™s get the countdown working in the AB HUD so itā€™s easier to build progressions in the AB/AUM to GTL workflow first šŸ‘ŠšŸ¼ā„¢ļøšŸ’• once we can visualize that recording loops will be silky smooth like it is in LoopyHD. šŸ™šŸ¼

Haha youā€™re right, but man it would be killer. Either way i Am fully enjoying the app, and the split like screen is really cool too , it can get in the way but overall can work around it. But building up songs in this is very simple in a lot of cases , I think imma be pretty productive with it

  • @reasOne ill post my AB/AUM GTL setup here in a couple hours so you can check it out. Itā€™s the old LoopyHD setup from a few months ago.

    Rad! Thatā€™ll be cool

  • @GrimLucky. Still not sure how you got GTL to show up in the output slot.
I only way Iā€™ve been able to make this happen is to open AUM in AB input with GTL IN AB output then switch to AUM to do my thing.
GTL then shows up in AUM as available output.
What do you mean by ā€œfloat GTL over AUMā€?

In GTL go to settings - Audio Input - Input Source, you should see AUM in the list, select Input 1.

Then go back to AUM, tap on the output destination on the channel, select IAA/Audiobus and you should see GTL available.

To float GTL over AUM you need to first have GTL in the dock then drag up the dock keeping AUM on screen and then drag the GTL icon over AUM until it expands.

Iā€™m on my phone at the moment but can try to do a screen recording for this later on.

Yes please to the screen recording. That would be super helpful.

Made a quick screen recording of GTL and AUM routing, the sound didnā€™t capture on the video for some reason but you can get the idea, hope this is useful.

  • Hereā€™s my AB/AUM setup file with Group The Loop for anyone who might want to use it. Works great when you use an external midi keyboard/controller to play your notes.

Thank you.. it'll be great to start with something that actually works (connection-wise) and then customize the setup according to mood, vibe etc... off to explore..

  • For some reason Groovebox wont load on my iphone in this AB3 preset.
