@Enc Beatmaster 2 will be on the bus soon.
@Enc I think there's a lot of people lining up for a multi-timbral AB compliant sampler that supports midi. Beatmaker might be the answer when it arrives. My only concern is what the CPU/memory overhead will be for all the parts of the App that you're not using?
Samplr is awesome but even although its multi timbral it doesn't have midi so you can't use it as a sound module as there's no saving using it to play a sample of a synth as against just recording the synth straight into your DAW using AB. (On the plus side you can do great things with the samples!)
There's definitely an opportunity for someone to come up with a CPU friendly sampler App, ideally with decent effects, that works with AB.
Thumbjam is sweet for loading your own samples and playing back via midi or on the touch screen etc.
Only just Sussed it out today as i was looking for a sampler myself ! It seems very intuitive and perfect to get my samples into my tracks quickly, load one wave file in and it spreads across the keys and you can even have scale locking etc......awesome really and I didn't even think about it just stumbled upon it!
And it supports multi-samples, and you can sample other apps when it's in the AB output slot....
No velocity layering yet, but that's coming..,
@sonosaurus Do you have any tutorial videos on creating and loading multisamples for Thumbjam? Personally, I don't have much experience with samplers. I've created one sample set for a VSTi on the PC, but I wouldn't know where to start on my iPad.
@sonosaurus
thank you. ThumbJam is an essential app in my mind.
I'm still waiting for Beatmaker to get on the bus.
Samplr is more of it's own kind of instrument. One that I feel contends well with apps like TJ that attempt to rethink software instruments. But hardly an old-school hardware sampler.
It's sad but I'm hesitant to even mention iMPC. I don't own it, but I've played with it and it's stable and fun, it still doesn't quite live up to the MPC name in my mind. Maybe "iMPC Jr." would be more fitting.
Thumbjam is an awesome app - its one of those where you think it is pretty simple, and then think "I wonder if you can do X with it" - and usually the answer is Yes!
To me Beatmaker is the best all around sampler in ios, I wish they would tighten up iMpc that would be nice. Samplr is great but doesn't edit.
just downloaded Beatmaker 2 .... thanks for the suggestions
