iOS 12.4.2: Fixed IAA bug?

Hi!

I've heard from my contacts at Apple that the IAA bug affecting iOS 12.4 is now, in theory, fixed in iOS 12.4.2.

Has anyone tried this, on those devices compatible with iOS 12 but not with iOS 13? Anything to report back?

I kinda forgot what the bug was. My iPad is on 12.4.2, so I can try it out if I know what to look for.

Try adding GarageBand to the output, and add another app to the input, and then switching to the input app and interacting with the transport controls for GarageBand. If the bug's fixed, you should continue to hear the input app's audio coming through GB, and GB's own metronome. If it's not fixed, GB will freeze up in the background and you'll hear nothing.

  • Thanks. No crashes here doing what you said. I tried three or four IAA apps and got no crashes.

  • Fantastic! Looks like we're all good then.

  • Hope I tested it right. :#

If it was still busted, you'd know pretty quick =)

  • I was slightly disturbed by the smoke coming out the back of the iPad. But nothing actually crashed.
