Nice NXT update!

Some nice new features!

  • sounds good! is it me, or did Gadget seem to steal a bit of Electrify's thunder when it was released?

... and also, wasn't there a 'how-to' video promised a few weeks ago by the developer? Still waiting for that...or a video from somebody, anybody...

Next is about the opposite of Gadget. Super unintuitive and chaotic. Hard to use interface, labels not readable. And so many bugs.
A video (or any) introduction would maybe help.

  • So much promise. But still need undo and how about some drumkits?

  • New update works well and has some nice touches. I like 'open in' from AudioShare.

    +1

  • Well done Ingolf... Very sexy update!! Love it :)))))

  • Yes - good update. It might seem a bit more of an enigma than gadget, but I get far less generic output from it :)

    Thanks!

  • Looks like the Dev has been hard at work dealing with the issues raised and adding a few nice touches. Hopefully get a chance to test it tonight.

  • Those nasty POPS when starting playback on a track is still there. Ingolf, please look into it. It will ruin someones day. I got it the first thing after the update, wasn't using headphones thankfully, only the iPad Air speakers. Which now sounds more like a clock radio/telephone by the way. Thank you,

  • This is definitely the app in my collection that is most in need of some tutorial videos.

  • First impressions are that the clicks on freezing and at the start of clips, particularly when the distortion effect is on, has been cured but only time will tell.

The option to exit the clip editor without saving is great!

Just gave it another try, crashed after 2 minutes, just as it always has done.

Now it seems to have a new bug that confuses the user clips, only reads one of them regardless how many are there and which one is selected.

Also, the drum sequencer does not work as before, what is playing when sequencer view is closed, is totally different than the sequence.

Also loading in the samples has totally changed, to the worse. If it was possible to figure it out before, now it is not. Or it is just broken in current version.
For some reason, it works with the old project files, but not with newly created files after loading in samples.

The boys at Sonic State did a Sonic Touch video featuring NXT. Would that help ya?

  • I forgot about that video - it was pretty basic in covering the various features. Better than nothing i guess.

  • @skogredd I've tried to repeat the issues but haven't been able.

I haven't crashed this version, yet, which is a good sign but its early days. Are you using an iPad 3 by any chance?

I can access my user clips without problem. There remains however multiple copies of some clips with different numbers. I've never understood why this is but think its got something to do with the freezing process creating duplicates?

When you leave the drum sequencer are you using the tick or the cross to close the window? The cross allows you to leave without saving changes which is a great feature as you can go in and manipulate the loop and the scene then exit and it returns to its originally saved state.

The sample loading works as it did other than you can now audition samples in real time as the track is playing. Two small bugs I've noticed are

    • when auditioning the sample plays on the first beat of the bar. Sometimes the Audition sample continues to play even after you have selected it and started to program the clip. You need to stop the sequencer or save the clip to remove this.

    • sometimes when auditioning samples into the drum editor whilst Nxt is playing they don't load when confirmed.

Both of the above are easy to work around. Still need to put some more hours in but looks good so far with freezing much more useable.

No problems here on ipad air so far...apart from what @skipp mentions
