IGrand Piano in Cubasis

IGrand piano is working in Cubasis via midi. Had to set dock compatibility to B in menu. This is amazing.

  • Yeah, but you can't recrod it, so it's still rather useless. Same as Sampletank and Amplitube. Great apps, but no so much if you want to record them.

@AH-MediaDesigns Yes you can. Just recorded Sampletank and IGrand into Cubasis. Set midi track to no instrument, set to IGrand, set IGrand to background audio, and compatibility B. works like a charm. It may be due to Cubasis update.

  • @mgmg4871, but it's just through the iPad mic right?

  • No, it's a midi track.

  • Great. Now I have to go buy Cubasis...sigh

@mgmg4871 I think the confusion is between audio and MIDI. I assume you have managed to record a MIDI track in Cubasis and can get that track to drive SampleTank or iGrand on playback. Since SampleTank and iGrand are not on the bus, I would be surprised if you managed to record the audio from either app without external hardware.

  • Lol. There's a free version with some good sounds.

  • @PaulB it is midi only. However, now that we know that Cubasis can be used as input and output, that midi can theoretically be recorded back into Cubasis as a audio track for now. With that said, St will be AB compatible soon, but IGrand is on the wait list, so this could be the workaround for IGrand. I'm just happy midi is working now.

  • Okay, I thought you were getting the audio back into Cubasis. i Understand you can send midi back and forth now.

  • Yeah, you can get the MIDI track to drive the piano in Bismark and record that for now, it's not bad.

  • You can sequence igrand from cubasis and record this in igrand and then audio copy to cubasis to get the igrand piano sound :-)

    Good thinking. :)
I wonder if that will work with CMP Piano?

  • @Tigdmb123 How do you record into IGrand from Cubasis? Thanks.

  • There's a record button in the treble clef area. Need to set it up the same way you do samplebank

  • I see that, but how do you record from Cubasis?

  • Same way. Midi out to igrand (give yourself a bar or two to swap apps) press record and voilà. Copy and paste

  • @Ian thanks. Swapping apps? lol Guess I've gotten AB spoiled.

  • So I tried the same with Alchemy. Technically it works, but real Rice Crispies time: snap, crackle and pop. I hope their upgrade sorts that out

@Ian did you set CPU usage setting to high? I've found that on certain sounds I get pops. Some smooth as butter.

  • Yeah, tried that. Sometimes it works but with the more complex sounds not so. It's the same when I use Geo to control it. Though I think something else used to be the same. Grain? But that's fine when I use it with Audiobus now. Maybe it's the buffer size? In which case (fingers crossed) getting on the 'bus would solve that little problem
