Yes 😉
No. If it were a uk product (ie I wasn’t going to have to pay extra for postage and tax when it arrived) I’d probably get one.
The app looks interesting. I don't feel like carrying a big rubber pad around though.
If it's for home use then why only iPhone support?
Might be interesting for people who don't want a keyboard or pads at all, otherwise we have many velocity- and aftertouch-sensitive keys/pads.
But it’s more a way of adding rhythm and expression to a sequence than a keyboard or pad
Something similar would be great built into riffer
Really?
Huh?
I genuinely do not get why this exists. Seems like way too much to do so little.
Like in Genome MIDI when creating a groove template by hitting a keyboard key rhythmically and quantising patterns to that groove?
Errr that’s not how I imagine it.
OK, I guess you want to enter new notes by tapping and move them afterwards like shown in the vid?
I haven’t tried the app - but what I think it does is let you load a midi file (or program a riff by tapping and moving notes) then play back that sequence of notes where the duration, velocity and start/stop times are controlled by the ball with some after touch on the ball as well.
I’m thinking I’ll pass on this until I see more convincing evidence in why it’s relevant in an iOS workflow compared to the roli’s, sensel’s etc.
On first view I’m not understanding the need to tie up two iOS devices, that’s not ideal imo and this seems several years outdated with respect to what’s possible these days with other hardware and even no hardware. Maybe I don’t get it 🤷♂️
Hi, I believe this company develops products for special education purposes. This is not the first one. Of course anyone can use them.
It works with iPad also.
It uses Bluetooth.
It is only $28 if you buy it direct from the company, way cheaper than other MPE hardware.
Plus, it doubles as a squishy therapy ball. 😉
That learning curve, though.
😂🤣
Hey Bianca, we actually are a UK company based in Scotland! Sometimes Indiegogo's shipping country defaults to a non-uk country and will show you a huge shipping fee, just update your shipping location to the UK and the shipping price will update!
Hey!
The Skwitch is actually a relatively small device (it'd fit in your jacket pocket!). There's one big reason that we require an iPhone and that's because Skwitch actually contains no electronics at all! We use the technology inside of the iPhone to sense the moment of a magnet inside of the Skwitch's squishy button. Doing this allows us to keep the price of Skwitch super low, while still offering top notch performance using the state of the art tech within the iPhone.
It is indeed a great alternative to the classic keyboard, however, it can also be a versatile addition to and traditional setup. It doesn't just have to be used to play notes, the 3 dimensions of the button can be mapped to any parameters inside of your DAW that you wish using Bluetooth MIDI.
Hi @JamesSkoog , thanks for that clarification, you just got yourself an order how soon can I expect it ?
Hey, that's fantastic! We ship out all our weekly orders on Friday every week, so it will dispatch tomorrow!
Thanks for your support!
Perfect timing for my order then I think it’s a clever idea.
I remember a time, million years ago, when I got excited and got a thing called iring. It was supposed to take me places where nothing else would. We’ve never departed. It is still here. Not sure where and even if I knew I wouldn’t know what to do with it anyway. *Likely iOS 13 has killed it off.
*replace likely with hopefully.
Hey, I might order one just because I find the idea very cool
If I remember rightly it used the camera on the iphone to detect motion on the ‘ring’ and there were 2 apps that could control other apps.
Do it!
@JamesSkoog thanks for coming around to the forum. I hope all your visits are as nice as you appear to be.
