I sold my Godin midi guitar, and Roland guitar synth two years ago to purchase the Roli Seaboard Rise 49; since I am mostly a keyboardist. No regrets. Love it! It was a toss up at the time between the Roli and the Linnstrument. I have been fascinated with isomorphic layouts for a long time. So, wish I could have purchased the Linnstrument; but cannot afford it now.

I have ordered the Novation Launchpad X, and awaiting its delivery. It is not fully MPE compatible, but offers velocity sensitivity and aftertouch (2 of the 5 axis of expression). It also is tuned to perfect 4ths like the Linnstrument; and can do custom scales. Great price. See video link below of a Linnstrument user, who is switching to the Novation Launchpad X.

A bad Linnstrument player may prefer the Launchpad. But the Linnstrument is still pretty obviously a more expressive instrument.

Yeah, his argument is bizarre—that the Launchpad is better if you don’t care about playing legato, and legato and pitch control really isn’t necessary. Typical keyboard player!

Edit: Just realized I responded to myself of a year-and-a-half ago. No wonder I thought that guy was right on the money!

I try to convince myself that a Launchpad is better than a Linnstrument because I already have a Launchpad and can't afford a Linnstrument. But I can't. I will wait a couple of weeks and buy it if the surface is sensitive enough.

  • I'm really curious to know if the Linnstrument is more or less sensitive than the Launchpad Pro.

I would think the Linnstrument is more sensitive given its MPE capability, but I can say that my LPP is quite sensitive, where glissando is done with ease by just sliding my fingers across the surface of the pads.

I hope so, cauz' I want one. It's fun when a pad is sensitive and respond to very light touch like the surface of an iPad.

  • I really like this Youtuber.

    2 views, 247 subscribers. What?

  • I finaly bought one. Will receive it in a couple of days. I was on the break for so long because of his price, but YOLO.

This VST sounds fantastic. What could it be?
