Anyone actually recorded MPE data in Zen Beats?

I can’t seem to get any actual multi-channel MPE data recording in Zen Beats. Anyone had any luck?

Interestingly it seems to feed MPE data (per note cc and pressure modulations) through to the MPE plugin (I’ve tried VOLT and Roli Noise) so you can play in MPE data and hear play properly. But when you come to record,I’m finding it only records a single channel of aftertouch. No cc74 at all. And no sign of how you would see midi cc74 or Aftertouch be shown as being on multiple midi channels.

Am I doing something wrong?

(I’ve enabled the instrument as being ‘MPE enabled’).

Hey, I'm reviving this old thread because I have similar questions and shockingly you never got a single answer.

I use MPE a lot. Almost exclusively, and I'm trying to figure out how Zenbeats is handling the data, if it can be changed, or if there are at least workarounds.

    Here's some things I notice:

    • when you're using an MPE capable midi fx you need to uncheck "block midi raw data" or it doesn't send MPE to the synth.
    • there are no automation lanes for the MPE data. Instead pitch glide is recorded as pitch bend. Indeed cc74 doesn't appear to record or even to be able to modify later.
    • if you turn on "MPE enabled synth" in the settings of a synth plugin it appears that when you go into the options on a midi note for that synth it gives you the option to add pitch, timbre (cc74), and pressure DIRECTLY TO THAT NOTE, and independent from the regular data automation.
    • also, if you record MPE using a midi fx you need to disable the midi fx when you're playing back the recorded midi or else it won't play back properly. Presumably the data recorded as pitch bend doesn't pass back through the midi fx properly.

@MatthewAtZenbeats did I miss anything? Is there a way to record cc74 (timbre) directly?

    Thanks!
