What is the best iOS app (Sequencer/DAW) for recording?
I am new to the whole scene and was wondering what is recommended as the best iOS app for recording your music. I am doing multi-layering of synthesizer instruments.
Currently I was looking at the following: Cubasis, Garage Band, Multitrack DAW, Studio Mini XL, Beatmaker 2, FL Studio HD.
Cubasis seems to have the most to offer and detailed recording features.
Just curious what most people would recommed? Or is there something else out there that is a must have?

If you don't need MIDI, then Auria is the best - hands down.
Personally I use Cubasis for sequencing/recording, and Auria for mixing.
If you need the high-end pro stuff like FabFilter, PSPAudioware and so on, then Auria is the only choice right now. Also worth mentioning here is that Auria provides far far more detailed view and editing of the tracks then any other iDAW (at the cost of higher cpu/ram usage, so I wouldn't recommend Auria on an older iPad).
If not, Cubasis, Multitrack DAW, Meteor Multitrack Recorder (amongst others) are definitely solid choices.
First, knowing what ipad you are using would help in answering your question.
Search the Audiobus forum for "best daw" and you'll have about 1000 pages of opinions you could read through. Highlights include "Battle of the DAWs", "Pick a DAW, any DAW (Er, Help ME Pick a DAW), "Another DAW Thread", and for the adventurous, "DAW Quest".
Like CS just said no matter what your told there will be conflicting opinions ,Cubasis, Auria, seem to be most popular to me and either would do you well I would think. Unless you need midi then Cubasis. It is just a guess here though and many people use both.
For the price Loopy, great for layering. Ios daws are not fully there yet IMHO.
I am using both an iPad 3 and an iPad Mini 2. Along with an M-Audio Axiom 49 MK2 and a Akai MPK25. All connect directly to the iPads, but am really only using 1 at a time.
If Loopy is not feature rich enough, multitrack studio looks promising.
Auria is feature rich, but the interface is a bit clunky and unless you plan your tracks wisely, it will bog down your IP3.
100% agree what @richardyot and others here have said but I'd also add that if you need some real Midi power, Beatmaker 2 is currently a better option than Cubasis IMO. However, the coming Cubasis 1.8 version should address most of these shortcomings.

Exactly the point.
BM2 is maybe the most feature rich and has much of the essential functionality and runs well on the older devices, but the interface is not good and with endless clicking around and now obsolete import/export options. But still ahead of Cubasis.
While Beatmaker has some good functionality, the workflow meant I never achieved anything. I'm more used to the Cubase style and so I vote for Cubasis for anything involving midi and Auria for audio / mixing.
My iPad mini 2 deals really well with all of them... iPad 3 might have some issues if you push it
A step up from Multitrack Daw would be MultitrackStudio. It just upgrade today with a Soundfont player also. Has IAA, and looking into adding AB. Has really good midi editing.

It seems funny, but since Multitrack DAW is so easy to set up, I do most of my tracking in it. (mixing for me is usually done in Auria).
I love the simple, but clean eq, compressor and reverb. Very simple editing, but nothing fancy. It only pales in comparison to Auria etc. because iOS has opened up a great platform for lots of wild effects.
@mgmg4871
Would you say that app is lighter on system resource than Auria (which I own) or Cubasis?
@WMVM Yes, Much lighter.
From my experience, I also recommend Multitrack Studio: very well thought out, great workflow, great sounding effects, low cpu footprint. My go to daw at the moment (having used Cubasis, Auria, BM2, Meteor, Music studio, Studio HD).
So it sounds like Cubasis and Auria are the top 1st and 2nd apps for recording/mixing... and then Multitrack Studio and Multitrack DAW coming in a close 3rd and 4th.
Or at least that is what I am coming away with so far.
Beatmaker 2 seems to be best all rounder at the moment with audio and midi tracks, with a great mpc style and multisample style samplers. Tones of features and great when used with audiobus. The downside is that it comes with a lot of not so great PCM sounds that you will probably never use (about 850mb), confusing file management system and interface you'll need to learn as it is slightly different then your usual daw. All that said, I still like it a lot, especially at the price. If you're planning to use midi stay away from Auria and if you want a bug free life stay away from Cubasis (at least until the next update). Also as @CSwinn pointed out you should look around this forum for other threads on the subject.
Will do. Thank you everyone.
I know I should just get an ipad, and hopefully I will, but for now an iphone will have to do...
I've seen a clip ( ) showing the behringer usb audio interface being used as an audio input device, via the cck...
I've had some success with MIDI, but don't know
a) if this is even possible on iphone (4s, ios9), ideally with an audiobus-friendly app, or
b) which apps support 'audio-input-device -selection', like rode rec, cubase, and several
Next week or so will completely change your view. No one here could escape from Auria Pro with Twin2 on sensation debut.
I sit about most days in my longjohns just dreaming of SENSATION DEBUT.
Yes, please don't buy Auria yet. Auria Pro is being released shortly and blows every other iOS DAW away.
