More Studiomux nonsense...this time with AUM.

https://community.zerodebug.com/t/more-studiomux-woes-please-zerodebug-listen/1230

I posted this on the Zerodebug community forum...even though I'm pretty sure they don't give a rat's arse. It might be of interest to anybody who is having issues with Studiomux. There's a pretty long list of buggy behaviours that I noted.

If any of the developers of AUM are seeing this it might be nice if you could confirm that AUM is not the culprit in this messy inter-app dance.

  • Smux has been a continuous disappointment .
    Dev support does not exist.

I wish another active dev would jump all over the failings of Smux, and provide a real solution for multichannel audio.

  • Really forget these guys. I would invest in a iconnect device. Best thing i ever bought for midi and audio routing between devices

  • It works for me B)

  • Midimux works flawlessly for me - more and more I'm using my iPhone as an outboard MIDI effects processor.

Studiomux... I loathe. I did recently get the gen plugin to work, but the fx one is rubbish. I'll stick with Midimux and be satisfied (that wouldve been cheaper way back, had I known).

I have an iConnectAUDIO4+ and it’s a bitch to work with. No iOS app, desktop app can’t backup the device correctly, change sample rate and it erases your routing...I dunno which is more garbage.

Haha, fair enough, sounds like you are in between a rock and a hard place.

ICA4+ works great for me, there is an ios app. Why the need to change the sample rate once set up? Awesome device.

If you need any help with the set up, im happy to help.

I guess I could just get a second one and have them dedicated to each its own purpose. I use it in aggregate with devices that only have one sample rate (not the same) so setting it to the matching sample rate for each master device seems to be the wise move.

Thanks for the help offer. I can set it up fine - it's just a bit of time waster since the desktop software's preset config saving function doesn't work and the iConfig iOS app is broken and abandoned.

for me too. After all the years and countless error reports from other user it is still unclear why it doesn't work for them. I had a theory that it has to do with the DAW setup (correct rtpMIDI and loopMIDI setup in Windows), but it has never been confirmed. I still feel sorry for those who have problems, Studiomux is such a brilliant tool.

  • FWIW, I did mention on the Zerodebg forum post (among a massive list of problems) that I finally got it (SMUX/AUM) to work after messing with it for hours but the very specific steps required to make it work stably are tedious and if you change course or if there is any unexpected action it can easily fail. It has been almost 100% solid since it got it figured out. When I say 'figured out' I mean working reliably. I've used SMUX for a few years but always in different configs and always with mixed results. It has become necessary to find a 100% working reliable solution since I started trying to make it work with my live rig. I can waste time in the studio but don't want tech disasters in front of an audience.

For shits and giggles I plugged the iCA4+ into my mobile rig today and attempted to get it working smoothly. Surprise - the iConfig iOS app actually works again. The Desktop app even showed some promising signs before it started playing up again. I managed to save and reload some presets and then that stopped working -- suddenly; no clear reason why. Then it dropped all audio when I made it part of an aggregate. I'm done with it; stuck it in a drawer until I can bring myself to face it again. I think I'll just sell it. I dislike unpredictable equipment.

So, back to SMUX, warts n all...
