Zenbeats ~ how to select source for midi learn

@MatthewAtZenbeats hi hope you're well! How do I go about selecting a midi source for midi learn within Zenbeats?

Comments

  • @wim have you had any luck with midi learn in zenbeats?

  • It seems to only allow mapping of ccs, not notes. No ability to choose the midi channel for mapping either as far as I can see.

I'm only trying to map CCs... how did you get it to work properly?

I have many midi devices routed into zenbeats via midi flow and they work properly with instruments in zenbeats, however I cannot figure out how to get the CCs to register properly when using midi learn~ what steps did you use to implement?

  • Go to Settings / Midi input and select your device

Expand transport area and select Midi Learn

Press Zenbeats knob / button you wish to map

    Activate controller

Thank you for this~ when you say ‘select your device’ do you just mean select it as a midi input? Or do I need to select it in some additional way? I currently have 20 different midi input devices selected on all of the different inputs however they don’t seem to be able to function for midi learn~ only for conventional sending to instrument tracks

Is it important that the first midi input be the one that you wish to use for midi learn? I tried that too and it still didn’t seem to work...

Wow! That is a lot of MIDI devices! If you're not using them all, I'd first uncheck "Auto Load MIDI Inputs" then remove the ones you are not using. By default all tracks listening to every MIDI Input. If any one of these are sending MIDI CC data then they could be blocking you from mapping the controller you want to latch.

  • Yes, select device as midi input.

I was using midi hardware though - don’t know whether that makes a difference. How did you get your AUM midi to show up as inputs ?

  • Hello @MatthewAtZenbeats

As far as I can see, the OP is trying to route midi cc from other apps . Is this possible ? Can I for example route Rozetta LFO hosted in AUM to device parameters ? If so, how ? I can’t see how to make those routings as, for me at least, AUM does not show up as an available input in Zenbeats and Zenbeats does not publish its inputs to AUM.

    Thanks

I somehow got it working after restarting my phone~ it does work from AUM~ just create virtual in and out ports via midiflow or midifire apps
