Interesting that those who disagree with even the idea of posting such a clip attack nothing in the actual clip but direct personal assaults on the writing style of the person who posted it.

And yes, Strunk & White reign supreme.

    Interesting, but not surprising.
It’s to be expected when one pokes at the objects of two rabid fanboy bases.

I agree; Strunk & White are bad motherfuckers!

I didn’t read the link and I didn’t attack anyone.

Did you just get a new thesaurus for your birthday or something?

    Nope.
I usually mostly communicate in latinate derivations and motherfucking obscenities.
I have long found that they are both great for getting under the skin of others.
I’m neither a salesman nor looking for any more friends (I have more than enough)

Oh, Tennessee Williams-like archaic words like mendacity, fecundity, obsequious, etc...
are also particular favorites. They seem to have a tizzy-inducing “I want to punch that smart mouth motherfucker” power all their own.

A man after my own motherfucking heart.

    Thanks!

Not a personal attack, ffs; a gentle mock of the OP for boasting about his rich vocab, then writing something which came across as rather nonsensical and pretentious. Thanks to the @TheOriginalPaulB, it led to some fine amusement. I didn't read the linked article.

Lesson 5 from Will Self’s tips for writers:

5 You know that sickening feeling of inadequacy and over-exposure you feel when you look upon your own empurpled prose? Relax into the awareness that this ghastly sensation will never, ever leave you, no matter how successful and publicly lauded you become. It is intrinsic to the real business of writing and should be cherished.

Will Self, large on words, short on ideas. My impression from reading a couple of his books.

    Ahem...
I said nothing about a rich vocabulary. And if you consider that a boast, you really should spend more time out of the monastery.

I only responded to Mr Wim’s chivalrous and faux-knuckle-dragging critique of my syntax, and explained that I like to choose words carefully in order to further fuck with those who seemingly have already been needled.
Remember, mr Reynolds initially responded to the piece with a pidgin/Bizarro World Superman/Tarzan-speak cliche. I certainly felt that type of low-effort dismissal deserved to be fucked with further.

That article is pathetic, well masked clickbait. Tim clearly just has to get stuff done. He’s the head of the world’s largest company. Of course he’s going to do business with the dude deciding what tariffs Apple will pay.

Why write an article trying to make something else out of this? Is Tim showing some support of Trump here? Is Tim so strapped for money that he’s maybe doing some under-handed deal that will give him free vacations in Trump hotels? Obviously not, I guess my point is that this article did not provide any evidence suggesting that this meeting was anything different from what Tim would do with any President in office.

Anyway, lest anyone think I am defending Trump, I look forward to the day when the dude is back on reality TV, bankrupting his businesses, and far far away from the leadership of the US.

  • Apple, an American company, wouldn't pay tariffs. But tariffs are poorly understood even in our government — and especially by the president, who seems to believe that tariffs make money for the nation that imposes them.

Are you saying that Apple parts/ products produced in China would not be tariffed? Serious question. That seems implausible... but you are right, my understanding on the topic is poor so would be glad to be educated (if for no other reason than to re-direct this train-wreck thread) ;-)

    OK Incel

Regarding that whole lack of intelligence thing, does that mean that I can count on your vote next November?
Or does the fact that I know the meaning of “centennial” disqualify me?

  • Waist of energy these kinda threads they only reach people who agree or trolls.

  • Give that post another edit man. Right now it makes no sense.
