I do enjoy synths that sound way different than the mainstream. Nothing against ice gear offerings, they just never really sound fat or warm in the way I like.

I’m kinda the same, except for maybe RedShrike. With that resonator I can really get some sounds I just can’t get any other way.

Im still glad I have the ones I do, but they don’t get much regular use other than RedShrike.

Making thin synths fat.... Sounds like a job for FAC chorus.

Try Woot. And you'll see the difference

  • Good point too

    @Soundscaper thnx!
@MrSmileZ great list of synths there, thanks for that. Apart from versatility, I'm wondering what you look for in terms of sound and what styles of music you are into making. Cheers

I tend to do rather dark experimental Hiphop, so I love experimental synths and sample manipulators. I do enjoy synths that sound way different than the mainstream. Nothing against ice gear offerings, they just never really sound fat or warm in the way I like. Many other folks seem to love them...I don’t know why, I go back and fiddle around and just scratch me head and think...what is everyone hearing that I am not hahaha

Different people have different tastes. Simple as that.

  • im new to the icegear hype. Got lagrange and kronecker on the recent sale. I love both of them. Lagrange is so simple to build sounds in, and can be very wild, or very tame. Just an all around great sounding synth.

Kronecker is just its own beast, very cool sounds, reminds me of some icelandic stuff like sigur ros, or múm.

Lagrange is absolutely in my top 5 synths. I just recently got Kronecker but haven’t put time into exploring it too much.

I found that these free presets from Spidericemidas proved a much more musical starting point for exploring the potential of Kronecker ... much more to Kronecker than the clockwork impression you'd get from the developers' preferred sounds

Someone mentioned this before. I’ll have to check it out.

    It’s most excellent.

  • Lorentz or Laplace? ;)

  • I fell in love with Laplace's sound the first time I heard it. Got Mersenne and Lorentz soon after and have made tracks with all three. I'm back at iOS music-making after a 4 year hiatus; will definitely be checking out Lagrange and Redshrike.

Laplace. The resonator in that one can coax some really unique and nice sounds.

Lorentz is good too, but more of a bread-and-butter synth. I find I can get similar sounds out of many synths. Yes, you can get sounds unique to Lorentz, but it takes more doing than Laplace.

Laplace is harder to get your head around though, I will admit. If you have a low tolerance for experimentation then Lorentz is better.

Presets pretty much suck on both. IMO.

While I don’t disagree, just pointing out that Lorentz has a resonator too.

  • Yeh, just not as many options, and more subtle IMO.

  • Just bought Redshrike, Lagrange and Lorentz.

The question is how did I not own any Icegear synths! I've already got 50+ iOS synths but somehow I'd missed Icegear altogether.

Real character especially Redshrike and Lorentz. Love 'em.

  • I'm a huge Lorentz fan too. So much texture and warmth and you can really push the sound into distortion and feedback. I've made this thing sound like a friggin electric guitar EASILY.

  • I’ve got most of ice gears stuff but Lorentz wasn’t on my radar, Lagrange is the other one I haven’t yet got, might have to listen to Lorentz now, I just read the performance synthesiser but and didn’t look further...

  • I really need to spend more time with LaPlace and Kronecker. Amazing things.
