    Even in the base configuration, I think most folks would have (more than) the performance they need. I can't imagine what organizations are using (or need) the top tier configuration, it's way, way way beyond my skill set or knowledge...

    Video and animation for instance. That being said, my current Mac Pro is doing just fine with video, is 6 years old, and has more than paid for itself. The base config of the new one would blow mine out of the water!

    When I freelanced around at small visual FX studios, they would have stuff like this to try to impress potential clients.

    Sucks that Apple is being so careless, overlooking things like this. There are some workarounds though - it seems to only affect USB interfaces and not thunderbolt, and at least in my case I was able to fix the problem by uninstalling the system clock via a terminal command on my 2018 mac mini.
