    It's history now.
Always wanted to buy it, but I waited too long.
Lagrange is the new Cassini, it seems.

I wouldn't call it history I think its the best layed out synth in IOS

I think @tja was referring to the fact that it can no longer be purchased from the App Store. When Lagrange was released, Cassini disappeared from the list of iceWorks/iceGear apps.

Oh shit that sucks I would hate for this app to not be on my ipad I think its layed out better than Lagrange in my humble opinion. Lagrange is dope though

Not at all. Cassini can do a lot that Lagrange cannot (and vice versa).
Three analog oscillators with waveform and shape adjustment, sync, FM and AM not unlike ShockWave but with three analog oscillators, two very capable filters including formant shaping, multiple beat-synced delays with filters in the feedback path, a customisable arpeggiator that is more like a mini step sequencer etc.
Ah, and of course it's polyphonic and runs well on older iPads too.

No, just elaborating on what each synth is.
No reason to feel bad about it though, we have more than enough iOS synths to make people happy

Hope it doesn’t fully disappear, great app.

  • Agree really good app. I keep an old iPad for the only reason it has this, alchemy (with all the expansion packages), synth X etc. Great old apps which offer something different to the current crop.

One thing Apple does do if you have bought something before they let you download it again even if its not selling in the app store. Its in my purchases and I had put it on another ipad not sure how this works and if its with all apps

This is the normal way it works. It is very rare for apps to become unavailable from the purchased apps list. Typically that happens for apps where there was a copyright violation or an app was found to have violated App Store rules.

@tja His synths are better than his way of communication........

''If my app is unable to meet your expectations, please consider offering a refund to Apple. I can't apologize enough for any inconvenience on my products."

    Refund! :)

  • @tja for a small monthly fee (read: subscription) I will add you to my "Family" and you can use the app :D :D

    Interesting idea, indeed :D :)

But then, i already have own family members on my account.
Not sure if that would be possible at all

It would be interesting. I think this forum is a place of trust which could allow something like this sharing of “Rented Gear” to be established for those who have older apps that are discontinued. It could be some sort of thing where you turn on family sharing for a limited time - the person could use certain synths for a project and then it would be turned off again, something like that. Idk, definitely has to be built on trust though. It would be an interesting idea.

  • @Shazamm thanks to your video I pulled up Cassini again and it’s a pretty cool synth. Funny how something so capable can end up dusty in the iOS closet. Too much to choose from! B)

  • @Shazamm Yeah Cassini is awesome, absolutely love it. It’s a shame that it’s gone from the AppStore along with Argon synth and Xenon. But I feel that a lot of those older iceGear apps still live on in the new stuff that Satoshi has put out there. Lagrange has a lot of both Argon and Cassini in it.

I feel you those 3 oscillators and they layout was awesome

  • I bought Cassini in November 2017, and last week I noticed that it had disappeared "in the cloud". Clicking on it produced a message "Unable to Install Cassini". So I have simply lost an app I payed for. This happened on an iPad running iOS13.

It may have been removed either because I have "Offload unused apps" switched on, or because Apple or the developer removed it from the app store, and it was then remotely removed from my iPad. Is this even possible? This has never happened to me before. No matter what the cause is, if this is not resolved, I will not buy any apps from this developer ever again.

The offload option comes with a warning that the app can be reinstated if it is still available in the App store.
But it IS still available, just not on iOS13, apparently. I tried my old iPad with iOS9, and on that one I could install it from the "purchased" list, and it worked. I would like to know what would have happened without the offload option switched on. Would it have stayed on my iPad, but with some iOS13-related bugs? Does anyone have it running on iOS13?

I contacted Apple about this, and I will post any developments here.

  • Just an addition to what I wrote above: the problem was caused by the "Offload unused apps" option. The app appeared with a cloud and a downward arrow next to its name on the iPad and also in the Puchased list. Clicking on that gave a message "unable to install", in both cases. But now I got the idea of deleting it completely, and after that I was able to re-install it from the Purchased list. It seems to work fine (with iOS13).
