  • Nobody bought it and complaining/exulting yet?

  • JO, Max and Roy means Elvin Jones, Max Roach and Roy Haines?

  • Anyone got the Jazz Bank added to iBassist.. Don’t see it in the ‘Make Drums Menu’ on iBassist..

  • @RajahP Me neither. But since we have seen that feature in the teaser videos, we‘ll probably get an iBassist update in the next days :)

  • Any thoughts to share about the quality of the feel and beats of this one?

I had to reflect and dig more into it.

For now, as I first thought, I like it less then soft drummer but I have to practice all his parts.

Don’t have also the iBassist button.

About to buy Jazz Drummer based on the usefulness of other Lumbeat's drum apps.

My negative comment was about iBassist and in particular the 'Thumb Double Bass' instrument. It simply sounds anemic - clunky and no dynamics. An iOS limitation? I dunno, maybe it's just me

So...anyone is currently jumping for joy ?
    [edit] I do!

  • ...hello: this app is killer cool...very useful for practicing Jazzpiano for example...

I suspect Jo Jones (played with Count Basie), especially as ‘swing’ is specifically mentioned in the 3 styles covered.

  • No special intro price? :(

  • Liking it so far. A different animal than SD. I expect roll my own patterns quite a bit, but there is a lot that I don’t yet understand.

  • Pretty great: export of audio - combined or as stems.

  • Can you set this up in AUM, say, as individual outs? Or can you export stems only from a loop or song?

I am going to buy this one (even though I suspect between SD and FD I have what I need) solely as a thank you/encouragement to add export elsewhere etc.

  • Waiting for The Doug Report to air.

No individual outs in AUM, but you can save the exported audio stems to Audioshare or other files and load them back into AUM from there.

  • I suspected as much. Thanks. It's intriguing, but I have Future Drummer and as promising and versatile as it is, I don't love it. The sound set is really limited, and the UI really unappealing and uninspiring (to me).

But obviously these apps are unlike anything else on iOS. I just can't figure out how to bend them to my will.

  • @SFXGuy, I think it would have been counterintuitive for Luis to discount this. He must have a tremendous user base willing to pay the well worth it full price. As @ExAsperis99 said, there are no percussion apps like his and he keeps making them better.

@ExAsperis99, I always approach using a Luis’ apps as an improvisation. Switching up sounds, jam intensity and editing the piano roll on the fly. It’s a richer experience for me and avoids any kind of in-depth planning. Maybe that would work for you.

I noticed from the demos that JD uses 3/4 and 12/8 time signatures which equals 66% swing.
Often slower tunes use a bit less swing, faster tunes use a higher % closer to a 16th note while the blues are generally at 66%

It will be interesting to see how midi export will transalate to apps that only offer 4/4 and also how the tempo is shown in apps that offer 6/8 but without a dotted beat unit, which is all apps I tried apart from Xequence 2

Yep, I guess iBassist need to be updated for Jazz Drummer.. hopefully soon..
That said, I hope FD get the JD Export feature soon (only tested the midi export so far)..
It is so handy to just export to BM3, NS2, Desktop ,etc... Just hit a button and that’s it... export Song Mode is fab.. no time wasted setting up to record.. This is it..

  • I’ll have to wait until next payday to grab it but seeing the comments makes me really hopeful for an ibassist update soon as well

  • This is a really nice drum app! Very inventive with the intensity XY and very fun.

@LuisMartinez I love the audio and midi export options! Thank you. I really hope they make it into the other apps. 👍

  • fill every step of the kick drum line and the app freezes

    That’ll teach you

  • This app sounds good. The feel is good. I think most people will want to fine tune the relative drum volumes.. the ride is a little hot for my test. It won't put a real drummer out of work, but it is fun to jam and practice with.

Bwahaha. Good one. And seriously, it's jazz?

That was my thought as well. The drummer in the app’s icon looks like Max Roach. All the best drummers. Fabulous tribute.
