[FALSE HOPE!] Maschine Mk3 as iOS MIDI controller (Ultimate BM3 controller?)

[Edit] THIS DOESN'T WORK. Unfortunately I was trying to not get TOO distracted from work and hadn't actually tested this before posting. I am disappoint.

I'm accumulating a lot of NKS plugins and while I have a Komplete Kontrol S61 Mk2, I'm not using it as much now that I have a great hammer action 88 key controller though, and thought the Maschine might make a good "NKS Remote" controller.

What I didn't know and didn't expect, is that when you put the MM3 into MIDI mode, everything is mappable and you can edit multiple templates with multiple banks of knobs and pads. The KK keyboards only use the 8 encoders and 8 buttons above. The rest of the controls aren't used in MIDI mode.

Look at this editor!

  • You will need a computer since the midi driver is on the computer... and class compliant on maschine just for audio.
So why to use BM3? Use Maschine software or Ableton directly...

  • The Mk3 doesn’t work with an iPad though, does it? If it does I need to give that a go...

  • bm3 is way better than maschine

What about just a midi interface from the iPad and go midi out from iPad to midi in on the maschine? You don’t need a computer for that.

  • Oh, damn. I had assumed it was MIDI class-compliant when in MIDI mode. The KK keyboards are. But yeah, upon actualy testing it I can see the Maschine as a MIDI device, but I can't enable MIDI mode or learn any controls. So close!

No go, unfortunately. Using it standalone with the power adapter still doesn't let you enable MIDI mode. It has to be married to a computer.

Sure but maschine hardware needs a computer so until BM3 get working on x86 it seems a bit complex use these in junction.

Native Instruments had failed in their strategy (standalone maschine cancelled day before going mass production) and iOS integration with its hardware is lightyears distance ATM.
