Hardware Mixer with USB??
Researching hardware mixers with usb.
Would like to dump my audio interface for a sole mixer to combine hardware synths and Ipad.
The market descriptions can be a bit confusing when it comes to routing (usb input/output).
Any recommendations ?
-thx

A very cheap option is the soundcraft mtk mixer with usb multi tracking.

I'm getting really close to grabbing a Livetrak L-8 for a mobile mixer for my iPad.
USB bus-powered!
Yeah this does lookin interesting, thx. Though a lack stereo inputs and a few other needs. Wondering if its fussy sending/recieving audio via usb
A few questions:
I have one of these - Doesn’t have USB in, but does have USB out. 8 track mixer, and 16 track recording onto SD card. A lot of stuff for the money:

I have the original Livetrak L-12 wired up in my practice room and it works great with USB audio, both to my MacBook and to my iPad.
Zoom stuff sounds great.
The Yamaha DM2000VCM is a THX certified mixer. Bit big, though.
Look like you could put a king size mattress on that one and sleep on it to save room. Yamaha stuff sounds excellent!
It’s kinda tricky, most budget mixers only have 2 out over usb. I think the Allen & Heath Zedi10 has 4 out over usb. The newer digital mixers can do independent channel out but again, I think the cheapest ones are 2 out, like the XAir 12 or the soundcraft ui12.
Soundcraft 12 mtk has 14-in/12-out via usb plus playback
If you're an absolute beginner then buy the Behringer mixers.
You can pick up their xenyx 302, 502 or 802 usb for good prices.
and the sound quality is pretty okay though not ultra clean.
The DAC is the same in the entire xenyx range.
I still use my Behringer 802usb connected to my iPhone SE.
Other than that go for either a multiple in/out interface
such as the Zoom's, Focusrite or Presonus which are class compliant.
or one of the Yamaha mixers which also only has stereo out to iPad.
Do you need Eq? as you could get a passive mixer to sum all of the synths
and stuff and get a stereo audio interface which will have better signal to noise
ratio than a mixer with an inbuilt audio interface.
The important question is what is your budget?
Works as a control surface/audio interface too.
Haven’t used it much as I don’t use much hardware, I use the Mk3 as an audio interface instead, but the recording tests I did direct to the SD card were really good - sounded better than when I record into the desktop.
My plan is/was to use it for recording jam sessions with other musicians, so it’ll get more use at some point.
