Quiet midi loop pedal avoid CLICK?

Trying to find a midi pedal OR method to avoid recording that annoying click the mic pics up when you start recording a loop.
Currently using a Lodigy umi3, click is just too loud, otherwise fantastic. Considering irig blueboard.
-thx

Sustain pedal > MIDI keyboard with pedal input > BlueTooth or USB MIDI > Sustain to CC message converter (if needed)

  • KMI SoftStep is quiet

  • Does the app you are recording with have count in for recording?

  • Yes, those clicks can be a nightmare when looping quieter types of music. Soft step is probably the best option but it is expensive. If you can live with just 4 buttons then blue board is a good option albeit I found the rubbery pads quite the opposite to your logidy, they provide no physical feedback at all. So you are at a polar opposite which might be a problem as well since you cannot be 100% sure that you’ve actually pressed the button well enough to send that message,

I've had my Blueboard a week; I agonised over ordering one after reading some of the disappointing reviews. Really pleased with it so far. I don't like noisy clicky footswitches either, but as superdom mentioned, the minimal movement and lack of feedback when pressing the rubbery pads is also a problem. Puzzling that IK disabled the visual feedback of the pad lighting when using the two midi over Bluetooth LE modes. My solution for looping apps, was to use a sustain pedal plugged into one of external sockets on the Blueboard. Works great with Enso in AUM, with no discernable latency.

You can add some adhesive rubber buttons, that helps a lot!! I can use it with socks even without looking at it. As rubbers are also smaller than pads this also helps in triggering them with less foot pressure.

  • Great idea Janosax.

  • @Janosax luv simple solutions....fuckin genius 👍🏼

  • The great thing about BlueBoard is that it’s connected via BT, it’s light/compact and batteries last long.

Also you can find here some MidiFire presets which allow multiple tap actions for BlueBoard (up to 24 actions). The thread is about Ableton initially but I use it mostly on iOS:

And here how to enable all backlits in midi mode:
