Looking for a chord sequencer, with comprehensive library, like ChordBud; but as an AU... ideas?
Subject kinda says it all... I’m looking to sequence chords in AUM while messing with synth params in various apps to create samples... so I want like 4 bars on, then 4 bars off for fx to die off...
I can live with chordbud as iaa, but having it all in AU would be dandy...

Suggester
but it has one flaw, it doesn't sync start/stop with host.
I just email the dev again, a few of us ask a short while ago if he would add this feature as the app already syncs to BPM.
StepPolyArp
I really don’t understand why developer did not implement this vital function yet😡it would be the perfect app🤘
Funny eh? I think he doesn’t use a host app himself maybe? 🤔
I would use BeatHawk with its useful pattern & song concept but I don't know real alternatives...
(It also includes a neat MIDI pattern clip launcher and supports MIDI CC to control synth filters etc.)
Dev gave me some cryptic but i believe positive feedback, watch this space type reaction to host sync start/stop.
Yea, Suggester is cool, but as noted there's no sync, longest you can get is 2 hole notes, there's no "latch" mode (I've begged him for over a year...), etc.
It's a good chord library, but could be way better if he actually listed to user requests...
I gather from the comments by the regular peanut gallery that I'm not in fact missing something and I guess I'll just stick with ChordBud, which is an awesome app app btw for chord sequencing if you've not tried it out.
Thanks for the suggestion.
ChordBud looks like you create your chord progression based on a huge list of selectable scales. This is perfect for people knowing enough about the theory of harmony but I couldn't work with that, I much prefer creating my chord progressions freely in ChordPolyPad, slide it over the DAW of choice and just hit the chord pads in the order I want them.
@MonkeyDrummer
StepBud does chords too.. Custom or probably everything that's in ChordBud.

Wow is there a video of how to do this??
CPP over NS2:

BTW, now that you asked, I found a neat audio looper for NS2: Group The Loop!

They're synced via Ableton Link on the same device.
@rs2000 Good nudge. Thanks.
That’s potentially interesting...
Can you set it up in AU mode to hold a chord say for 4 measures, then have 2 measures of silence and keep looping over that sequence? If so that will be perfect.
StepPolyArp combined with ChordPolyPad will definitely solve the OP task.
This is so cool! Will try it out driving iBassist in realtime midi in while also recording the midi into NS2.
yes. it's a step sequencer. cykle will also do this. there are a number of step sequencers that will enable you to accomplish your goal, but the choice is dictated by how you like to work. also quantum and midiSTEPS.
another enjoyable approach is routing a mono sequencer through scalebud, set to chords instead of notes. scalebud allows you to choose scale types, triads, octaves, inversions, and gives you a keyboard with I, ii, iii, IV, V, etc.
even though scalebud's intended use (?) appears to be a scale quantiser, the built in keyboard is playable.
until chordbud is (hopefully) auv3. @cem_olcay
I just tested this..
The longest step can be 2 bars long (2/1 rate). You could have 2 steps (each 2 bars long) followed by one step that is muted (also 2 bars long). With 3 steps you could have the 4 bars of chords followed by 2 bars of silence. The only thing may be that the chord will trigger for each of the first 2 steps.. it won't sustain for 4 complete bars.. BUT you could also just cut the tempo in half and have 1 step = chord (2 bars) and 1 step silence (1 bar).
Choose the chord, adjust the gates to full, adjust rates (bar lengths) and you'd be good to go.
Just to reiterate for anyone else who is as backwards in coming forwards as I am this is a gamechanger sliding over/playing CPP into NS2. Happy Bunny with extra thank you.
One of my initial requirements is that there’s a chord suggester or a good library... I know that just sequencing them is trivial and I have like 100 apps. I was looking for a one app solution for library+sequencer.
For anyone that cares, the best solution is to use any old piano roll or sequencer and feed it to suggester AU and put it midi trigger mode.
My apologies. I’m a little slow 😉
I thought the chord suggestions related to key and scale were what was needed. I wasn’t aware of suggester type apps ( just looked it up ).
U mean the auv3 version ?
I had no issues in aum with standalone version
I haven’t tried it if late
Yep its also AUV3 now
Looks like Photon is working in the latest iOS update.. Suggester midi export to Photon seems to be a good solution..
