Newbie Q: how do I get external midi drum machine to send sound through AUM?

First off, merry Christmas to you all! I wonder if anyone can help. I bought the Uno Drum and the Steinberg UR22 MKII. I've set it up, after a fashion, and the interface means that I can use Uno Drum with the midi sync set in AUM, so transport works. What I want to do, though, is to have UD show up as an instrument node in AUM, or some equivalent, so that I can apply effects to the UD output, e.g. reverb, EQ, etc. Could anyone possibly tell me how to do this? I was trying last night but gave up in the end! I'm a newbie to this external midi stuff, so any assistance will be very gratefully received. And, once more: Merry Christmas!

Aren’t you confusing the midi and sound concepts?

For audio, you need a sound interface. Connect the Steinberg to iPad and then, Uno drum to steinberg input audio

Yep, in AUM you just need to open up an audio channel and select the audio input your UNO is connected to. So either ch 1 or 2.

When you start the transport you will see the uno inputs/output levels on the AUM audio channel if you have enough input level on the UR22.

  • Hi @OnfraySin and @[Deleted User]

Thanks for your help. I’ve now sussed it. Not being trained in this stuff, it was a bit of a headf**k at first but I’ve now grasped it. Big fun for Christmas now! 👍
