Cubasis 2.8.2 Update Bug (fixed)

  1. Summary/Title
Cubasis 2.8.2 Update .. Metronome/Count In No Longer Works

  2. Description
Under Metronome Settings I have count in set at 2 bars as usual, but upon starting record there is literally no count in anymore after this 2.8.2 update.

  3. Expected Results
I expected the usual 2 bar count in I’ve relied on for years.

  4. Actual Results
See video below. Guys! We need to fix this ASAP! Many of who bought Cubasis 3 are still relying on Cubasis 2 while the coders are working on the Cubasis 3 bugs. Having a count in is pretty crucial for many.

  5. Environment
    12.9” iPad Pro generation 2 with 4gb ram/IOS 13.3

That’s odd. Count-in is working fine for me here. I wonder if it’s because I’m using LE upgraded to full Cubasis 2 function via IAP.

  • @LFS please take note.

Hmmm .. what iPad model and IOS version are you on? I’m on 13.3 so maybe that’s it.

13.3 Air 2. I can’t imagine it has anything to do with iOS version or hardware.

I think it’s more likely the LE vs. Not-LE differences. I also don’t get the upgrade pop up like you do. but, who knows?

Ahh! Ok yeah if your not getting the upgrade pop up it sounds like a different version .. does your version say 2.8.2?

    Same here!!!

    I’m on 6th Gen 32 Gb-iOS 13.3 and no more count in....

I was away from Cubasis 2 for some weeks, trying Beatmaker 3, and coming back again I found this bad Holidays gift.

After some readings here and there about the new Cubasis 3 and all the related stuff, and after a few months that I spent about 60 €, now I cannot use Cubasis again, you know, the count in is something “useful” to me.

Please fix this issue @lars , I know that some way Steinberg dismissed C2, but I wouldn’t it dismissed me/us the same way.

Obviously I am not going to spend 60 € again after only a few months that I purchased a working Cubasis.

Fortunately I bought Beatmaker 3 at good discount few weeks ago (less then 20€) and I am using it at least until C3 will be fixed.

I love to have more then one DAW in use because no one is perfect; I was quite happy with C2, as I am now with BM3, but just would like to use C2 again as for what I paid for and was not bad at all.

    Thanks and best

Yeah you don't appreciate having a count in till it's not there anymore :( Again Lars .. Cubasis guys .. PLEASE put back the old code or something in Cubasis 2. Cubasis 3 is just too buggy for us power users .. so we need our Cubasis 2 back while we patiently wait for the Cubasis 3 bug fixes. Thanks :)

Yes, it’s 2.8.2, but a slightly different app. Steinberg provided a path to upgrade Cubasis LE to the full Cubasis 2 functionality via IAP. However, even though they’re functionally equivalent, they’re actually two separate apps. I’m guessing this is at the root of the two differences noticed, but it could be something else just as well.

I’m sure they’ll fix that one. They have said that they will continue bug fixes for 2.

  • If useful to catch the bug: today I've just upgraded to iOS 13.3 and discovered the count-in bug, but honestly I don't know if they are related because I haven't used Cubasis since some weeks

So are you using the latest Cubasis 2 version 2.8.2? I had not used Cubasis 2 on this particular iPad either since updating to IOS 13, I had been using my other IOS 12 iPad with Cubasis 2, then Cubasis 3 came out and of course I needed IOS 13 .. so I updated that iPad to 13.3, bought Cubasis 3, discovered I needed updated Cubasis 2 to transfer over IAP’s so upgraded 2 to 2.8.2, then discovered all the bugs in Cubasis 3 making it useless for my workflow and decided to try Cubasis 2 on the same IOS 13 iPad and wa la no count in. Only thing I can think of now is to make a template in Cubasis 2 and record my own clicks .. then when the songs done delete those 2 bars of clicks and move everything to the left. I REALLY hope though it’s an easy fix for Steinberg to make the count in work again and that they update it soon!

Yes, 2.8.2 for me. on 13.3
Don't you worry, I'm sure they fix it, it have to be something very stupid :-)

  • Tap the BPM/tempo display.
It will open the menu to set Recording Mode.
Make sure Count is enabled, and try again.

It should work. Works for me, on Air2 with regular Cubasis 2.8.2.

Ok it’s not a bug, count in works, my bad. Make sure Count is enabled in the Menu that pops up when you tap the BPM display. The update defaults it to disabled. Whew!

Glad you got it sorted out. It might be a good idea to update the thread title.

Done! And I removed the thread from the Cubasis forum as well. Thanks
