Tascam 1X2 Interface

edited January 2020 in Other

So am I seeing this correctly? Is there a lightning port on this Tascam? That seems to be kind of a rarity for audio interfaces, yes?

Does anybody have this? Do they like it?

    That’s Micro USB.
Looks like it’s to power the interface when it’s used with an iOS device.

  • Ah, thanks. Also in my zeal I overlooked the unbalanced outputs. I wondered why it was so cheap!

  • Trying to find a serviceable interface for my kid who makes beats on a laptop using FL Studio. I have an iConnect 4+, but I wouldn't wish that complexity on him. At the moment, he tends to use only a microphone, but he could probably do with an instrument line in for a bass or a Volca or something.

  • I have the Steinberg UR22 mk2 and like it. May be a bit too spendy though.

I love my Zoom u-44. And I think there’s a version without the MIDI ports if he doesn’t need them (but he could sequence a Volca from FL studio and abuse it with MIDI CCs 🙂).

Looks nice. I particularly like the fact that the outlets are noted on the top of the unit!

He has a NI Komplete Kontrol keyboard; I wonder if the Native Instruments interface are decent. Seems to offer some software, but the basic interfaces have no midi?!

Can’t speak to NI but the inclusion of MIDI was essential for me.

  • Zoom u24 is cheap and solid but could be confusing for a kid if they started pushing all the buttons ;)

The Zoon H1n is a fairly good quality stereo I/O audio interface that doubles as a portable recorder.
    No MIDI though.

Kids are smart! He’ll be teaching dad in no time :-)

  • Oh, totally. He's made more money selling beats online in the year since he started than I did as a "professional" musician signed to a major label in the 90s! It's weird world.
The Presonus basic model looks pretty decent with not glaring omissions.
