Has Apple made an offer yet for Audiobus?
One update after the next, people anticipating AB support for their favorite apps, updating their devices to the latest, increase in app purchases etc. etc.

While that would be an instant cash in opportunity for Sebastian and Michael, I doubt it would be good for us, given Apple's usual attitude towards a) their customers in general, and b) musicians in particular.
@PaulB I agree. I don't even want to imagine the impersonalization of AB.
@PaulB I don't doubt that we'd lose much of the awesome personal attention from Sebastian and Michael, but if Apple were to buy Audiobus (which I really think they should!) it may allow them to automatically add Audiobus support to all audio apps without developers having to do anything. Imagine that...
@Rhism homogenization of Audiobus can never be a good thing. As long as it's in the hands of developers like Sebastian and Michael, it will continue to improve. With Apple, it would likely see 1 benign update every year or so. I'll take slow implementation and consistent improvement over quick implementation and soon after, abandonment.
Apple? You mean that company that still don't alow us to just COPY something out of Alcatra...uhm...Garageband?Jeez,don't tell me such horror stories,we have already enough apple exclusivity
My hope is that Apple just become passengers on the bus and not drivers.
They could buy m out and hire them as managers or keep them involved in any way. Imagine the resources available for further development, maybe lower prices on apps for supporting AB?
I really would like to see where emagic would be now without the buy out through apple.
I have a friend who bought a Carillon music workstation PC (Windows) with Logic mere weeks before Apple bought them out and Logic went Apple hardware only.
The hard facts are that Apple don't need to buy them out. All they need to do is introduce an iOS change that breaks Audiobus, then reject any submission that works around it. A little further down the line, they can then bring out their own version. They've reviewed the code, so they know how it works. I seem to remember something similar happened to some other app, but I forget the specifics.
Oh wait, I found it again. Not quite the level of nefariousness I'm envisioning, but pretty hard nosed all the same.

@PaulB - my thoughts exactly! I had been wondering about that for some time. It always struck me as a scary proposition for any developer to have to open the door to Apple....or Google...or any other company!
But then when the cash figures start rolling you guys know it's hard to just say no and move on with life...
haha kinda like Instagram.
Except people happily pay 10x the app store mean for Audiobus. Instagram... Not so much.
@PaulB Apple doesn't review code, just the finished apps. If they wanted to make their own version of AB they'd have to start from scratch.
That said I agree with you that Apple doesn't need to buy AB, mainly because they have no reason to do so. AB makes money => Apple makes their 30% cut. AB-compatible apps make money => Apple makes their 30% cut. In general anything that gets people to spend more money on apps benefits Apple.
The only possible reason they could have to purchase AB would be if AB was planning to add Android support.
... meaning that if Sebastian and Michael want to get bought out, they should start planning Android support
@Rhism Don't give them any ideas. Lol
@Rhism Ahh, ok, I assumed that they review the code so that they know you're not breaking any of their code behaviour rules. Plus, with the initial Audiobus release of DXi FM Synthesizer crashing on an iPad 4 when you play the first note, it didn't seem like they had actually run the app. Good to know they aren't as MCP* as I was thinking.
*(Tron reference)
I speculated 6 months until an offer on twitter before the release. Bets are still out.
Steinberg would be a better fit though. Just saying.
