i hope this means Cube and Poseidon are next for the AUv3 treatment

I’ve praying for Poseidon to go AU.

I would say that you can get in a similar ballpark - I just messed around a bit and got something that sounded sort of like that with plenty of grit and movement. MicroTera has 4 envelopes and 4 lfos so plenty of modulation sources, I started with the Shampoo preset, mapped one of the lfos to Shaper and one to Chaos, changed the spectrum a bit, added some tube distortion and played low. Not identical to the video, but certainly an interesting sound!

Hey Phil, pulled the trigger. Not regret. Wow. Great synth and the automation and modulation stuff in it is really cool! You can actually get really close to the sound I linked above. Would not have thought this. And it is actually pretty easy to program. Great synth for the sale price of 5€ its a nobrainer haha

Glad you like it - it has a different character to all the virtual subtractive synths, you can get some some very powerful sounds and it is quite easy and fun to tweak.

  • Problems with Addictive Micro... Filter sweeps with breath control are all zipper noise. Horrible.
The volume curve when modulating volume with breath control is totally wrong. Instead of getting louder when I play louder, the volume starts going softer like a bell curve 2/3 of the way to full.
When choosing a sine wave in one of the oscilators and turning down the filter cutoff to zero, there is still sound from that wave. It should be no sound when the cutoff is at zero!
Problems with Micro Tera... The modulation matrix does not work when using aftertouch.
Using aftertouch as a modulation source gives you a fixed value of modulation, not continious values..
No response from VirSyn when asking them to fix it...

  • Solething else. Has anyone noticed that microtera is taxing the cpu much less after it’s au update? Used to have problems running it in low buffer mode in AUM, well now it runs fine at 128 samples here.

I really, really don't need anymore synths... but was considering this based on it going AUv3.

Most of the reviews in the appstore are from 2014. In these days of magnificent synths like Model 15, Mood, LayR, Zeeon, etc. does this "ol' school" iOS synth still offer anything really unique in comparison?

  • It offers a unique synthesis method. The Synths you mention are virtual analog. This is something different.

Yeah, not the best or most accurate examples... but, basically looking for confirmation this one isn’t somewhat redundant now.

Will likely nab it anyway, but would be an easier sell if it’d also gone universal as well as AU.

Definitely not redundant, there’s none like it, (as in secret weapon, for me anyway. Has a very distinct flavor)

  • Absolutely!!! There is nothing like it! A total steal during the sale!
Its really the first Synth I come across that is capable of creating Neurofunkstyle Bass sounds. wow.
And it has a super small learning curve (imho).

  • Thanks for all the feedback. Picked it up and not disappointed. Love it! Capable of all kinds of beautiful weirdness. :)
