Good piece on/about him also from The Guardian / 2016:

Blimey - that’s a shock! Part of my musical life from Shoom days onwards. Too young!
Brilliant, my favourite quotes were:
"I’m quite happy at this level. When it becomes a career, a career in any business looks quite tiresome and vexing and like it might involve me having meetings with people I don’t want to have meetings with.”
and
" a disastrous appearance at Bestival – “in front of a load of boho-chic people with papooses on, who’d apparently just enjoyed a band called Grand National doing a cover of Walking on the Moon by the Police” – that concluded with Weatherall “lying on my back in the middle of the stage shouting: ‘WE’RE ON OUR WAY TO SATANVILLE!’ "
I'm genuinely gutted about this, from Screamadelica, to Sabres of Paradise, Two Lone Swordsmen to his DJing and remixes, he was always interesting and on the search for the next thing. I remember seeing him DJ at a festival in the UK a few years ago and it might well of been the best DJ set I'd ever heard, druggy, deep, funky as hell with absolute no cheese. NEVER SOLD OUT. Legend.
How many DJs do you know who would be into lino-printing?! A true original.
Happy Trails dude !
He deserved to be an elder statesman. Truly inspirational life in music. RIP Andy Weatherall. Thank you for the magical musical experiences you gave us. No sell out is right.
A Legend. Will be missed.
I'm going to use/sample that Satanville line, for sure.
Sad news. Great DJ, big part of my clubbing experience in the early 90s, capable of playing full tilt acid house or soundtracking a chilled out comedown. Liked the fact he said he kept a box of popular disco records like Chic in case he was ever asked to do a wedding!
We went to Bestival up until about 2007. I wish I could say I remembered that moment but I don’t... I remember lots of other great Weatherall sets though.
One of the greatest RIP
I saw him dj many times in the 90s, great nights.
Classic remix
RIP brother

If you’re in the UK or have access to BBC, they’re half way through a nice audience selected tribute show right now...
