Midi learn / midi assignment Cubasis 3
Hello!
Does anyone know how to set up midi learn for faders and other interface elements in Cubasis 3?
Comments
There is no support for mapping CC# to the mixer or transport controls. We’ve been asking the Steinberg team to add this and we’ll have to wait and see.
Maybe I’m blind, what midi learn options are there for other stuff? What can be midi learned? Feel like I’m missing something. Using iPhone XR so maybe UI elements are not visible immediately? Lol
Give up all hope! People have been asking Cubasis to implement that for over 6 years!
Cubasis says "they hear you and they are working on it"
I don't know but when I have a client ask for a change it get it done pretty damn quick and if it is some thing I can't do, I hire someone that can.
After all the Latest fiascos perhaps it is time for Steinberg to clean house and get some people in there than can do the job. For me in IOS they have ruined their reputation for quality and become more of a saboteur and cash grabbing operation
Harsh.
+1
Bah ok. I never used C2 all that much so wasn’t sure if I was just missing something or if it wasn’t present. Glad to know I’m not blind/crazy/psychotic yet
I’m a little in disbelief. I’ve just recently broken out my midi controllers, working great with AUM and others but something like Cubasis doesn’t offer this? I mean, this is fundamental. I haven’t used it much either but wow, how did I miss this...? Does GarageBand? I haven’t tried yet. I am enlightened. Thank you once again Audiobus forum.
Maybe one day they will implement it? I doubt it. People here have been asking for it for so long and still no answer has been given.
So yes, all hope is gone.
Hi all,
Thank you for your message.
Obviously, we've taken Cubasis to a new codebase with the release of V3, which took our team several years in making in rewriting the app from scratch, while adding many new features to both Cubasis 2 and Cubasis 3 i parallel.
This step assures the app to be ready for the future, and brings many improvements, while it also require maintenance, which we've provided in the recent to updates.
We do our best to maintain Cubasis, and have proven this with Cubasis 1 and 2 for several years, in releasing many updates with new features and improvements.
MIDI Learn and controller support remains on our list with high priority.
Stay safe & well,
Lars
Hi @ralis,
Please see my comment above.
Be assured we normally do not mention we are working on something if we don't.
If you encounter issues with Cubasis 3, please provide me with a detailed info, so we're able to support you.
Instead, if you're unsatisfied with the app, it might be worth checking with Apple for a refund.
Thanks
& stay well,
Lars
I will vouch for Steinberg and @Lars and @LFS: when they say a fix is coming, it almost always seems to come and is perfect when it does, despite C3's slightly bumpy rollout.
But with Atom 2 about to land and LK evolving at such a rapid pace — both of which have (or will have) dedicated controller support, it is surprising to me that I can't use my Launchcontrol XL with Cubasis 3. It seems such a perfect fit.
@lfs Hi Lars. an ability to assign midi to transport controls and mixer control would be very welcome. Hope Steinberg team did not abandon the plan to implement midi learn feature. Thanks in advance for your help.
I find it surprising that this is STILL NOT IMPLEMENTED! Especially as Steinberg managed to find the time to get the ability to use the iPad's typing keyboard to help control the app. Good grief, wouldn't it have made sense to implement both that and CC control and get it over with?
I just got a Launchpad X and I now find that only Beatmaker 3 seems to have had the forethought to make control surfaces an integral part of their feature set. What a disappointment!
I was about to buy Cubasis 3 but luckily came across this thread.
Who doesn't have midi learn in this age? Why would you force your users to keep touching the screen for every single thing when a knob or a pad would make things a hundred times faster and more convenient?
Heard good things about it but I will pass on cubasis unfortunately.
BTW, tell your dev team that when you promise to implement a widely requested change you are not supposed to take years to do it, especially for a premium app like this. There are posts promising this change from years and years ago that show up on Google. How hard is midi capability when the simplest apps have had it since first launch?
I was just contemplating using Cubasis 3 for recording (for being able to do overdubs) instead of AUM, so I did a search on setting up midi cc control in Cubasis and I find this thread.
While the answer from LFS seems very solid and trustworthy, there is just something about working on adding cc control for 7(?) years that does not induce me with much hope.
So I hereby submit my vote for Jonatan to make a (perhaps separate?) version of AUM that has a “proper” timeline where recorded audio tracks can reside and overdubs be made, essentially making it the perfect iPad DAW (for my purpose, at least).
