Good candidate for AUM Production tricks video? | haQ attaQ music

I made this project so that I would have something proper to use in a future AUM production tricks video. The upcoming video will handle mixing inside AUM, use cases for side-chaining and also how to think about using EQ creatively. Hope you like the result and stay tuned!

In this video I am using four instances of Figure by Reason Studios. First I recorded a live jam and then I mixed the thing inside AUM together with a whole bunch of third party AUv3 plugins.

If only Figure had support for multi-output through AUv3! Setting up four instances of Figure spread out on four different iDevices, isn't too hard. However it feels like overdoing it when only recording four tracks.

Apps used: Reason Studios Figure, Kymatica AUM, FabFilter Pro-Q 3 and Pro-R, Eventide Blackhole Reverb, MagicDeathEye, Audio Damage Inc RoughRider3, Dubstation 2 and EOS2, BLEASS delay

Hardware used: Behringer UMC1820, iPad mini 1, iPad mini 2, iPad Pro 12.9, iPhone 6s

  • Great stuff !

It reminded me though that I wish Figure had live midi out rather than multiple outputs and midi mapping for the rhythm selector. You can get crazy grooves out of it by manipulating the rhythm divisions while playing the keys. (GR16 comes close with its arp patterns but there’s no way to switch patterns on the fly as the option is buried in a menu..... )

So quick to get ideas going but I tire of the limited sound palette after a while.

GR16 comes close with its arp patterns but, although you can change the speed of the output using the xy pad, there’s no way to actually switch patterns on the fly as the option is buried in a menu.....

Someone made a Max for Live plug in for Ableton based on the Figure live mid generator idea - I’ve given up on the Props doing it but someone should bring it to iOS .

  • Oh and yes, looking forward to how you mixed this in AUM ! :-)

  • Yup, I’d love to see how you ended up producing this track from your jam, cool stuff!

  • That sounds nice! Very tasty. Look forward to upcoming video.

  • nice👍👍
