Digital D1 “not installed on your computer” - GarageBand issue
I’ve just bought the D1 synth, and it’s working great in stand alone on my 6th gen iPad. I then installed it as an Audio Unit in a new GarageBand song. Then I added a second instance and a Drummer track. Closed, and saved, all was well.
When I come to reopen the song in GB however, I get a message saying “Digital D1 is not installed on your computer. Install Digital D1 to continue using it”.
It clearly is still installed, and indeed, GB gives me the option of adding a third instance! However, as things stand, although my midi parts are still there in instances 1 and 2, nothing is played back.
Any help much appreciated.

Memory issues, it uses a lot of memory. Close the project, reset your RAM, open again, it should be back. It happens to me.
Hold the lock button until the power off screen comes up, ignore the screen but hold the home button for about five seconds and it should go to the home screen or ask for your passcode. If you don’t have a home button, it’s some combination of volume buttons but I don’t have anything without a home button.
If that doesn't work, try actually powering down. Sometimes that clears up issues that soft reset doesn't.
Hmm, unless the feature is 'turned off' iOS can offload apps when it's running out of space.
Check if Offload Unused Apps is enabled under Settings > iPad Storage...
Thank you, but unfortunately even powering down hasn’t worked, and Offload Unused Apps is currently not enabled. I have about 10gb of free space on a 32gb iPad.
Then your project may have too many AUs for the amount of RAM you have, can you load it in a fresh project?
Remember, the "storage" on an iPad is actually what would be a disk drive on a real computer. Your device processor has 1, 2, or 4 GB of RAM that holds all the running apps and their data. There are sites that give the detailed device specs, if you want to check out yours.
I opened an empty GB song and tried to load one instance of D1 - got the same message saying it didn’t exist on my iPad! So I reinstalled D1, and that seems to have resolved the issue.
Interestingly, Cubasis 3 still recognised D1 before and after the reinstall, and has had no trouble running multiple instances of D1!
