  • Wow sounds so beautiful.

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Sounds really great 👍

  • @flo26 you’re really a good guitarist. These plugins really shine in your hands. Cool. 🤟

  • @Faland ,thanks so much!

  • Yeah sounds really nice. What guitar?

  • Well first off, I think @flo26 could make a $100 Squier Bullet Strat plugged into a TubeScreamer knock off recorded by one of those iRig 3.5mm headphone jack “interfaces” sound bitchin’ so that has to be considered; even so the Nembrini stuff is incredible especially considering the price point...

I think exactly the same... even if the pleasure one can have playing on a MM plugged in a Rivera isn't quite the same as playing a Squier on an iPad.

I taught basic beginning guitar for years (it's actually how I met my wife) and one thing that was a common theme was beginning to even fairly intermediate players was the idea that having a really good guitar would improve their playing.

Now of course a nicer quality guitar with a great neck will be more comfortable to play (nicer fretwork, rolled fingerboard edges, etc), but getting a $4000 Paul Reed Smith isn't going to improve your playing.

And on the other side (as @flo26 is an example of), a really great guitarist's feel & technique can make a dog of a guitar sound good by their facility and touch.

  • I am trying out the BST100 demo on desktop to see if I want it on iOS. While it sounds for very good for some things, I am finding that like most amp sims it’s hard to dial in settings where moderate changes in p,aye no dynamics translate to a range from pretty clean (very slightly distorted) to sweetly distorted — something fairly easy to dial in to many actual amps.

Has anyone found settings where this works or is it similar to Amplitube and other amp sims in this regard?

When the $100-200 knocks off were originally introduced they just looked like the real deal to fool someone without knowledge about quality. But the use of robots (or numerically controlled machinery) to make perfect copies of the original products and most complex assembly of parts has created a revolution in low cost/high quality musical products.

A low cost Les Paul can really get it done and many <$100 guitars are very playable for beginners to learn on and use for years. Asking a teacher to test a guitar for the best within some budget is the best use of a lesson dollars to make rapid progress.

But most students tend to buy what there hero plays which is why so many famous musicians make a nice living with endorsement revenues... or at least get some good stuff at no cost.

It took me a long time to get that @flo's Luke was a Music Man "Steve Lukather" Signature Model. Steve being the studio musician that has played on records from Michael Jackson to the Toto albums as the principal guitarist.
He also does most of the Ringo Starr's "All-Star" tours and most Rock and Roll Hall of Fame bands. One of the real survivors of the Rock Lifestyle and all it's pit-falls.
