Sample Management on iPad Pro

Ideas or tips for managing samples?
I have AudioShare
Have a 500 gig usb SSD that can connect.
I have about 300 gig of samples in my Dropbox.

I would like the ability if I am moving all to iOS to have my samples readily available.
What is best way for some of you with large sample library to manage on iOS?

Thanks!!

  • I’m doing a similar thing, but using Dropbox as I use it all the time anyway... it’s a shame that audioshare doesn’t seem to be able to actually reside in a Dropbox folder, as that would mean my samples were automatically shared between all devices but it’s still pretty simple to just grab whatever folder or samples I want onto the iPad at will...

  • @onerez, you might take a look at the File Explorer Pro app. It lets you manage a folder tree containing files of any type. It can share the files with any compatible app. It can access cloud servers directly. And the file tree is visible to the Files app, and to any app using the Files interface; if looks like a cloud server in the Files sidebar. It's solved a variety of awkward problems for me. Don't know how it would handle the removable drive, though.

  • Really just wish I could narrow my sample library down a bit and I would put it all on my ipad... I have 100gb that I could dedicate to it.
@StudioES ,, yes I have imazing and have my samples in 3 areas... LOL don’t want to lose them.
@Krupa I hear ya on that.
@uncledave I will check that out.
I just wish I had a 500GB ipad and I would not worry.

  • Just a bit of data to add. I connected an old thumb drive to my iPad using a non-Apple CCK. Requires power, well OK. Files app sees it immediately, can view the files (a mystery .exe and some jpegs). File Explorer does not see it, but can add "External Connection", then works fine. So that seems to be the state of iPadOS 13 and removable drives.

Another thought. The drive manufacturer may offer an iOS app, which might offer additional features. In the past, that was the way of connecting unsupported devices to iOS devices. Worth a look in the App Store.
