  • @hacked_to_pieces - Great suggestions. Glad to hear you like Nils. I noticed that briefly awhile ago but don't think I caught what it was right away. Like both the price and the universal compatibility. I will try and find a demo first, but definitely going on my list.

BeepBoop has been on my list for some time. Another $1.99 hidden gem, but I know it's sort of a niche thing, and I already have the problem where I'm just messing around with new apps instead of more deeply exploring and USING what I already have. I will own it someday!

Alchemy (the free included content) is really great. I have no doubt I'd like some of the add-on content, it's just a big program to carry around permanently on a device compared to some other options.

  • BeepBoop looks interesting, but I can't find any audio or video demos of it anywhere.

  • Alchemy with all add-ons is 2.1 GB, but it's worth the hassle. Biolabs Dark Space is the meanest pack, but some hard sounds can also be found in Minimal Techno (there's for instance a distorted bass with noise which can be filter modulated).

BeepBoop cranks out some serious weird shit, but has serious latency issues.

Grab VOSIS today while it's FREE. Excellent image based synth that gives plenty of dark textures, gritty drones, and odd chant like tones... and far more beyond. Very cool app, and well worth getting even at full price.

@bixnood I haven't been able to bring myself to dropping the $55 for the complete version. Just seems a bit steep... but I'd love to hear the sounds you're talking about. gah

  • And another Free for the Day app, M0DULATOR ($3.99).

It's a wicked little app. A grid of 16 buttons that toggle on/off various types of feedback loops that interact with each other, and can be effected by moving the iPad around, using various hand positions in front of the speakers and mic, tapping on and around, using your voice or other sounds, etc... and of course toggling the feedback loops. You'll get all sorts of wild stuff out of this little monster.

  • Does anyone know of any distortion effect apps?

  • You can use BIAS!
