Patterning 2 is on sale
Best price it’s ever been, it seems.

Edit: bought. Forgot how amazing Patterning 1 was until I revisited it the other day after... quite some time.

If you don’t have it get it! It is my favorite drum machine, period, including hardware, desktop computers.
Having instant access to velocity is key, as is being able to edit the steps in a cycle, subdivision. Song mode is great. When I’ve had odd time signature ideas for something on the guitar, I’ve been able to make a special beats easily. Patterning 2 added a bunch of cool stuff that doesn’t hurt the usability, like tempo changes on pattern change, kit changes, offset a pattern to drag or play on top of the beat.
even at the fullest of full prices it's a no brainer
It is also very pretty software.
An amazing app. The AUv3-only crowd is missing out on a peerless app.
I’m hoping this means that the iPhone version is nearly out as I feel I need to try this before I buy, I went with the consensus and got groove rider but still wish I hadn’t bothered. Please don't shoot me 😬
👍
Patterning 2 is also definitely my fave drum app at present, so intuitive, easy and enjoyable to use. Will be nice to get auv3 but it is definitely an essential app even without it.
I love patterning 1. What does 2 bring that’s different and makes it worth it?
Copied from the App Store

• Next Generation Ratcheting
• Automation Recording

All those things make it really worth purchasing (again)?
It all depends. If you read those and say "not for me" then it isn't worth it. At the time, there was a bundle discount so that Patterning 1 owners got it at a significant discount.
I wasn’t going to buy it again, but Patterning 1 is still so good that I decided to pick up Patterning 2 partly to just support the dev. The new randomization and automation features are probably with it for me, though. YMMV, but every time I complain about the AUv3 drum machines I have... Patterning is still better than all of them.
I wish this sale was to coincide with the iPhone version
Can you enter multiple notes at the same step (play chords on 1 track)?
Can you automate the start position of sample?
For reals. The Digitakt, Circuit, TR8-S, MFB drum machines, etc, etc aren't AUv3 either.
Yes, this is one of the gems of the IAA apps. The shared kits feature was a stroke of genius as well. It really opens the sounds up.
patterning 1 is the reason i bought an ipad and version 2 just made the deal better. now you can have 2 instances of this thing going in one session 😎
Resistance broke late last night, why did nobody tell me it was this good 🤣
I’ll wait for AU version since I already own v1 .
are there any ready to use patterns, or only kits (sounds)?
Drum kit switching alone made it worth a rebuy for me. The overall potential is hampered by olde school IAA forgetfulness though.
Well, Patterning 1 no longer works properly when exporting. The developer told me its cause of ipadOS.
Yea patterning 1 isn’t on AppStore anymore so... yea
There isn’t a reverse sample layer that I’m not seeing is there? I’m sort of working around it using attack/hold/decay but it’s always been something I do when building beats...
Yeah I’m a little disappointed by that. I probably won’t need more than one instance at a time but auv3 has many other benefits.
Still not AUv3 so I'll give it a pass. I'm hoping the next update or Patterning 3 will be Auv3. Then I'll snap it up in an instant.
If AUv3 is more important to them than the app itself, then maybe they aren’t missing out on much.
I am loving it way more than I imagined I would, thought it might feel gimmicky but the immediacy and expressiveness is something that I now know I've been missing all my drum programming life - want to try it out on midi instrumented next...
I got it because of the sale and I must say I'm impressed. So many possibilities and the workflow is great.
Plus the midi out on each track (along with semitone quantisation) makes it wonderful to trigger other synths connected to Audiobus and even samples on my OP-1.
I love it!
Oh Lordy... Who is ‘them’? An annoying tribe of iOS producers?
Another question: is the developer missing out on customers?
(Although I bought P2 anyway... even if I never use it... I keep trying to remember to use it... but... but... habit... workflow...).
There’s a thread about this somewhere!
