iOptigan app is free now
I found this weird lo-fi app really fun to use, even if I don’t know well how to put it in a final release.
Free now with optional in-app.

Believe it's been free for a while? Or at least was free in the past cuz I have it and wouldn't have bought it!
Wonderful app, a joy.
Post canceled, sorry wrong thread

Why nobody releases an arranger like this...? But with modern (or custom) patterns?
I'm still waiting (maybe I missed something) for something like that...
Love the optigan!
I literally made a twitter account to tweet the developer and ask if there was any possibility of uploading our own samples cause the layout is amazing and the lofi sound is nice but I got a bit of a smug response saying “yeah if you recorded it 5 decades ago and you send me the optical disk.”
Shame...
This app has made my day, just sooooo much fun and lofi delight!
Sounds to me like the Lo-Fi sound and scratches, etc. aren’t algorhythmic, but actual reproductions of the original disks. So I doubt importing your own samples would do a thing, unless they were already lo-fi. In which case iOptigan not needed?
I think maybe you underestimate the rearchitecting and rewriting that would be needed to accomplish something like that.
Lol. That’s kinda funny but not a proper response from a developer. He should have at least prefaced it by saying, Unfortunately you can not...
Also I constantly have to remind my self that text alone is a horrible way to communicate. Something like 80%-90% of the way we communicate is through non verbal cues, expressions, and tone/way it’s said, etc... So text, by itself, can easily be misinterpreted. Not that this is the case but maybe it came across different then he meant it to.
Indeed. They scanned the original, optically encoded discs. The app has a pretty lengthy write-up on it.
OK, I thought that was quite funny. Cheeky devs.
To some extent but it’s easy enough to not come across like a smug prick if you don’t want to. The normal response if that’s the case would be to just say that’s not how the app works. it wouldn’t be a huge leap to assume it could be sample based. Don’t really care anyway, least I didn’t pay for it
This is the cheesiest sounding thing I’ve ever heard .. I love it 😍
My main gig with my iOS set-up is improvising music for dance classes. Usually I can play what styles and textures I like, and so every now and then I call up iOptigan and hit ‘em with a good waltz or cha cha. Fortunately they always seem to enjoy the full cheesiness of it all. 😄
I love this thing and will be buying the IAP later today. It's such good fun and I'm sure I'll be able to fit it into my workflow somehow...
Here's a great example of it forming the basis of a whole song by Goldfrapp (Folk and other Moods - guitar)
it’s fun for a few minutes but i must be missing something lol cuz i don’t really see a use for it in making music
Well I know what you mean but I so WANT to use it.
Other sound 'toys' like Cosm I've managed to use in a creative way so I'm up for trying to squeeze in some Optigan if I can make it work.
What is "Cosm"?
Cosm is a lovely ambient, reverb drenched audio toy. Check some YouTube vids.
Tricky to use in the context of an iOS DAW or AUM jam but that's why I love these music toys: if you get it right they can sound like nothing else in your track.
I think Optigan could inspire this kind of thing... Hopefully
haha i get that, it is fun to use at least. i really like cosm i was in the beta and have enjoyed watching it become what it is today...as an ambient musician i find it quite nice to add to the workflow but can be tricky to get cued up
