I really love Erik Sigth’s Strng. Any other recommendations?

I really love Erik Sigth’s Strng. Any other recommendations you think I might like? I have the iceworks synths, some of these have this similar warm, deep, complex quality. I have SpringSound, haven’t taken to it much, it can sound ok played on screen but for some reason it is almost impossible to play nicely on the seaboard. Good velocity response is important. Thanks in advance for any tips, folks.

  • Shape synth by Erik is pretty cool. Fairly deep, as is Tardigrain.

I was going to mention Lagrange but it sounds like you’re probably already into that one.

Mononoke works pretty well alongside Strng for some ambience. Not sure how well it works on a seaboard as I don’t have one.

Yes, Spectrum is excellent, Tardigrain too, Mononoke is a nice addition too for sure except that it is not very enjoyable to play on an mpe keyboard. Blown away by how good Spectrum (FREE!) and Strng (super cheap) are for the money! I’ll maybe check out Shapesynth, cheers

  • ^this. Some great pluck sounds to be found there.

  • Shoom. Doesn’t do MPE though I don’t think.

  • You might like the resonant string audio unit: CuSnP

  • Thanks, I'll check those out, I certainly love resonance, really enjoying ass aas objeq too :p

  • Spacecraft + Seaboard = Much Fun

I only tried it for a few minutes but it’s plug and play, just select one of the MPE presets

  • Get Frekvens. It’s not string related but it’s fun as hell.

Yep, SC has the best MPE integration.

  • Thnx folks, yes spacecraft is an immensely enjoyable app for me. Especially for processing the kind of rich, organic sounds that things like strng make. The textures you can come up with are incredible. Frekvens I noodled with but need to explore more properly, looks good.

  • Does Shapesynth lack any control over pitchbend?

  • Shoom unfortunately doesn’t take midi note input according to the app description, that’s a pity

  • The Swam instruments available as IAP's in Roli's Noise app are rather choice... excellent samples with an overlay of modelled expression. Sadly these samples don't turn up in the AUV3 instances. Goes very nicely with a Roli 25. Audio Modelling are apparently set to release a series of instruments playable on iOS. Won't be cheap but.

  • I know, I’m eagerly awaiting it, realizing the lack of auv3 in noise for the swam packs was one of my first big iOS disappointments lol

I wouldn’t hold my breath foR the audio modeling ios stuff, they might go drambo on us :D but i hope and pray I’m wrong, and that they may even surprise us with a nice corona-discount.

Spectrum was already mentioted, but not Sugar Bytes Factory and Aparillo. Both are free as standalone, cpu hog and pretty deep and unique. Also I just got PPG Infinite and I'm in love with it. One of best wavetable synth I ever tried. Waldorf Nave in the same boat, but no AUv3 there. Addictive Pro fro Virsyn sound interesting and have deep randomisation options. iVCS3 is also cool but I still can't figure out correct pitching in it.

PPG infinite sounds very rich but I HATE the matrix, it’s a pain in the ass to use. Factory and Amarillo I’ve tinkered with but held off getting the paid versions because they aren’t mpe and are a bit pricey, but they are very much up my street and I might buy them next time they are on sale. Nave sounds wonderful, yeah, definite pity it isn’t AUv3. Same for LayR

  • @Gavinski, yep, that maxtrix always like ;)

  • Yeah, unfortunately it is only one among the numerous apps in ios that have poor design for phone/ipad

Not sure if this is what you mean - -> maybe check out this excellent @Daveypoo video around the 2:50 mark for default note pitches + octaves..

Also - Input level needs to stay at .32 in order for the pitch to be mapped correctly across the keyboard (4:50 in video)
