Proton: P-locking sequencer for Mozaic

Hi,

I just released a new sequencer for Mozaic, called Proton.

https://patchstorage.com/proton-p-locking-sequencer/

Every step can hold 1 MIDI note and up to 8 CC values. Instead of programming the steps within Proton’s UI, you just send it MIDI events.

In Step Record mode, select a step by tapping it, then send the Mozaic instance a MIDI note and some MIDI CC values.

In Live Record mode, just hit play on your host and send some MIDI events. Proton will loop 16 steps of MIDI notes and CCs.

Each step can be set to ratchet from 1 to 8 times and have adjustable length and velocity.

Press SHIFT to access step and sequence setup: clear notes, clear sequence, change record mode, copy and paste steps.

  • This looks interesting, is it related to your ‘other plugin’

  • great!! just downloaded it!

  • Awesome... thanks.

  • what script is that you’re using with the knobs?

  • @burns_audio What’s the other Mozaic script you are using along with your new one?

  • Looks cool, thanks!

    Obligatory request/feedback :)
It would be cool if you could set the number of steps (1-16) and possibly also a tempo multiplier for each instance.

  • Or is that 2 instances of your script? 1 instance on each page?

  • edited March 2020

The other script is just a bank of Knobs that send CC for Ruismaker. I might extend it to support various plugins and release it as it's the perfect companion to Proton. I wish more synth AU's optionally sent their parameter changes as MIDI cc so you could just dial it in within the synth itself while Proton is recording.

Edit: if I extend this it will be polyphonic, up to 64 steps with a clock divider. And if I really get into it, trig conditions.. but I'm not sure I'll get around to it. I usually write Mozaic scripts when I want to be productive but am procrastinating other things

  • Any chance of optionally limiting the step count then?

This would extend things creatively for me. I love the concept but rarely use 16 steps or multiple instances of 16 steps.

If this is hassle or doesn’t fit your idea no worries, thanks for sharing this.

I think I have a plan to get me to my end goal with this without having to rewrite anything. Will work more on it tonight. Going to make 8 patterns of up to 16 steps that can be chained, and add a tempo divider. Just need to copy some code from my infinity sequencer since I already solved most of the math problems there

  • Sounds super and would be ultra flexible.
I can’t help in any technical sense but I have faith you can handle it!

  • OK I just updated Proton to 1.2.

It now has 8 separate patterns of up to 64 steps, with an adjustable clock divider. Steps can last from 1/32 to 2 bars.

It also supports copy/paste of steps, pages (16-steps at a time), or patterns. Please read the patch storage description for an explanation of how to navigate and use Proton.

The goal of Proton is for blazingly fast pattern building that includes a lot of dynamic movement. If you have suggestions please let me know, although it may be awhile before I add anything else at this point. Lots of other projects to work on!

(cc @iamspoon I think this will satisfy your wishes)
