Is there an AUv3 looper that can crossfade?
I'm trying to record some ambient jams, and lay down a harmonic bed to improvise on top of. I've tried both Enso and L7 to record the initial loop, but neither seems to be able to crossfade so there is always a click at the start of the loop.
I know Loopy might be able to do this, but it's not AUv3 so it means screen switching while playing the on-screen keyboard, which is basically impossible.
I've also tried RE-1 and K7D, but it's not really possible to create a loop with these that isn't beat/bar quantised.
Does anyone have any suggestions that might help me out? Thanks!

Not always the perfect solution, but if you set up Enso to go into overdub rather than play on the second press (end of loop), you will get a very smooth crossfade as the tail of the last played sound is then allowed to decay naturally. When it has smoothly faded out just hit play. I can get very smooth ambient loops using this method. Most loopers allow you to configure them as either Record/Play/Overdub or Record/Overdub/Play
You can do it all with one footswitch on Enso, as I do with either my Blueboard or an Audiofront ME pedal.
Thanks! I’ll give it a try👍
Overdub after record is your friend. This is really the only way to get seamless loops from pads and atmospheric sounds. Even with overdub, looping is many times easier with a foot switch. Loopy does have the ability to start and stop control without switching apps using the Audiobus toolbar from anywhere.
Another thought is using a second device like an iPhone to send MIDI over Bluetooth to start/stop the looper.
With Enso, do you find it best to go into overdub with 0 feedback and continue generating input sound until Play is triggered, or to stop playing when entering Overdub but have some feedback (from the previous pass) to make the loop seamless?
I hope that makes sense, going by memory here.
Ostinator is good for this.
You don’t need to screen switch to use Loopy if you have Audiobus. Everything you need to do can be done through the floating palette and/or MIDI control. This is particularly true if you need more than one loop.
Direct overdub was one of my first wishes and request for the L7 looper - hopefully they implement it sometime
That is how I usually approach it in Enso.
Setting Enso to overdub once the loop stops recording worked perfectly - thanks!
