    Lately I've been thinking that NS2 totally deserves a dedicated drum synth version of Slate. Maybe limited to 8 voices or something but, yeah, 100%. Obsidian is capable of an absurd array of drum-like sounds. VA+Sample? Sure. FM+FM+VA, yep. Noise+FM+Multi-sample, OK! There are just too many possible parameters available to make it a quick and lovely drum synth. It actually needs to be dumbed down a bit! And tuned/streamlined for percussion. But it's all there.

    Yeah, I have a template that uses Mozaic that basically makes Nanostudio a groovebox. You have everything, including superflexible routing.

    I guess Aphelian. There's more to it, so it may start slow (at least it did for me). But it packs more power.
    Oscilab is more on your face, I guess. Oh... and Osci is from the IAA era, but Universal ... Aphelian is AU, but I think it's not iPhone compatible

    Gadget + Stockholm + a number of great REX loops.
    Slate in NS2 is very nice too but Gadget's London, Recife, Bilbao and especially Stockholm are still my most inspiring sources. It's an approach not unlike DJing. A breakbeat here, a guitar riff there, a vocal line on top and every loop is already sliced and ready for rearranging.
