Touch response

Has anyone else experienced that sometimes iPad stops responding to touch for couple of seconds then back again?
I used to had this on my Air2 and was worried that it's hardware issue but then it disappeared and it's working fine ever since.
Now I'm experiencing the same again on my Air3 and it's not fun at all, so I'm just wondering if it's hardware related, maybe OS built or maybe it's just the endless hand washing... :)
Seem to happen regardless of the CPU load.

Any input appreciated!

Thanks, that's very helpful. I'll try to swap cables and chargers around to see if it helps.

Seen this with pro 10.5 as well, a grrrrr moment but I put up with it. I’ve also rationalized: I use a few different nonApple devices and they all have a different feel
Switching between makes for odd touch results
Used to be that edge response sucked, also

  • I’ve experienced this on a 2017 iPad Pro 10.5, insanely frustrating. My buddy has the exact same model and it’s the same. Tried cleaning the iPad, fiddling with Accessibility settings, assistive touch but nothing helped, just annoying random dropouts in the touch response.

The screen broke before I could take it to the store and I’ll be receiving a identical replacement tomorrow, covered by the insurance. Be interesting to see if the issue manifests itself once more.

FWIW, when I described the issue to an authorized Apple service tech in connection with handing the busted iPad, he said it sounded like a software issue🤷🏻‍♂️

Thank you for sharing your findings. This thing drives me crazy, I was too considering calling apple.
After you pointed out last time that it's an issue while charging I tested all my chargers/cables. All work fine but the issue persists. Indeed 99% of the cases when it's happening it's on charger. Also to somewhat confirm your latest findings when it happens using a stylus (cheapest plastic piece of crap with rubberised end) it works fine. Tried to cover the magnetic connector with tape which didn't help.
My Bluetooth is off almost all the time ☑️
    Moisturiser ☑️
Do you mean discharging iPad after charging cycle by touching f.e the frame with metal piece?

    Thanks again :)

  • Same. Sending it back to apple as Apple care runs out on 15th May. Wonder if it returns unfixed.

Fate is doing you a favor @BCKeys. You’ll love the Pro. Just remember to keep your chin up!

  • Had the same issue while charging some weeks ago (Air2) and carefully spraying with contact cleaner and after few plug/replugs problem solved :)

  • Used Pro2?

  • I've had the exact same issue with screen being unresponsive on my air 3.
I removed a matte screen protecter thinking that was the problem.
Our place has bad ventilation and we use a clothes dryer a lot so this place is full of static. I wear flip flops 24/7 and always lay on the sofa to use the iPad.
I will try and put my feet on the ground next time it happens.
    Thanks
